On Sunday, Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was served with a subpoena to testify before a grand jury investigating potential weapons charges involving former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. According to ProFootballTalk, Pouncey is apparently being looked at as more than just a witness in the case. The subpoena was issued by a state court, not a federal court. If the subpoena had come from federal court it would have likely meant a grand jury had been convened regarding Hernandez’s potential involvement in interstate gun trafficking. Greg Bedard of SI.com reported on Sunday that Pouncey will almost surely be more than just a witness in the case against Hernandez. Here is what he told WQAM’s The Joe Rose Show: Overall, I would say this is a serious situation for Mike Pouncey. This is not a situation where they just think he might have evidence towards the charges against Aaron Hernandez. If he goes in there (to testify before the grand jury) thinking that’s what it’s about, he will be unprepared. He should be prepared that the authorities are looking at him in regards to some charges. There is no indication of what those charges against Pouncey could possibly be. Bedard also said that Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey (Mike’s twin) could be summoned to testify at some point as well. Both Pouncey brothers played college football with Hernandez at the University of Florida and were embroiled in controversy earlier this year when they both wore “Free Hernandez” hats in public. Hernandez already has one murder case pending against him and a double-murder case is also possible. In addition to that, authorities are reportedly investigating whether or not he was engaged in the illegal trafficking of weapons. The fact that the Pouncey brothers could be brought into any of those cases involving their friend has to be extremely troubling for both of them and their teams.   The post Report: Mike Pouncey is more than a witness in Aaron Hernandez case appeared first on Midwest Sports Fans.
