Found October 02, 2013 on Rumors and Rants:
PLAYERS: Roger Goodell
According to a new book, the NFL conducted a two-decade crusade to deny scientific research that showed a link between playing football and brain damage. The book is entitled “League of Denial: The NFL, Concussions and the Battle for Truth” and was written by ESPN investigative reporters Mark Fainaru-Wada and Steve Fainaru. The book reports that the NFL used it’s resources to discredit independent studies by scientists, and cited research data that minimized the dangers of concussions while emphasizing its own flawed research. It also claims that league executives used a public relations strategy designed to keep the public unaware of what those executives knew about the dangers of playing the game and its long-term effects. The NFL began whitewashing the debilitating neurological effects of playing football suffered by former players under former league commissioner Paul Tagliabue, who retired in 2006. That strategy continued under his successor, current commissioner Roger Goodell...

Roger Goodell Sends Email Telling Fans About Football Safety As Criticism of Rules, Concussion Care Grows

With concerns mounting from both those who say NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has gone too far in trying to make football safer and those who say he has not done enough to stem the league’s concussion crisis, Goodell sent an email to fans this week telling them about safety measures in the game. The email was sent to about 10 million fans, according to the NFL, and came out a few...

In Goodell's NFL, Too Much Is Never Enough

“Those that much covet are with gain so fond, For what they have not, that which they possess They scatter and unloose it from their bond, And so, by hoping more, they have but less; Or, gaining more, the profit of excess Is but to surfeit, and such griefs sustain, That they prove bankrupt in this poor-rich gain.” ― Shakespeare, The Rape of Lucrece“League revenues at $25...

Terrell Suggs: Roger Goodell had a hand in the Super Bowl black out

Ravens linebacker Terrelle Suggs told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he believes commisioner Roger Goodell was behind last year’s Super Bowl  black out. “Most definitely I thought he had a hand in it,” said Suggs. Suggs says he saw Goodell on the sidelines talking with John Elways prior to their AFC divisional game against the Broncos and he thought that showed that he favored...

Because He Still Doesn’t Know How To Shut Up, Terrell Suggs Says Roger Goodell Staged The Super Bowl Blackout

Terrell Suggs must have a short memory because it doesn’t seem like he remembers the Ravens won the Super Bowl last February. In a recent interview with E:60, Suggs STILL blames the blackout during this past Super Bowl in New Orleans on NFL commish Roger Goodell, who Suggs claims staged the power outage to give the 49ers an advantage in the second half. From the interview: “I...

Terrell Suggs Thinks Roger Goodell Was Behind Super Bowl Blackout

I see Terrell Suggs has been sipping the same juice, and utilizing the same conspiracy cup that former Ravens star Ray Lewis was using days after the Super Bowl. Suggs like Lewis before him believes that Commissioner Goodell had a hand in the lights going out in the Superdome right as the Ravens were preparing to blow the 49ers lights out while up 26-8. Suggs though attributes...

Terrell Suggs: Roger Goodell ‘most definitely’ had hand in Super Bowl blackout

For a team that won the Super Bowl last season, the Baltimore Ravens sure have taken quite a significant interest in conspiracy theories. Terrell Suggs Says Roger Goodell ‘Had a Hand’ in Super Bowl Blackout, ‘Always Has Something Up His Sleeve’

Move over, birthers and 9/11 conspiracy theorists. The Baltimore Ravens want in. For those who think ex-Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis‘ assertions that the Super Bowl blackout last year was no accident are a bit far-fetched, there’s now a corroborating report. Of course, that report comes from a current Baltimore player, and it’s even more poorly framed than what Lewis said, but...

Saint Sean leads New Orleans revival

New Orleans fans would never admit it, but Roger Goodell might have done the Saints a favor when he suspended Sean Payton for a year. It made Payton a better coach, and he was already one of the best in the NFL. His biggest flaw was that he knew it. If you want to take a guy down a notch, there's nothing like going from NFL genius to assistant coach on his son's sixth-grade...

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs says the NFL and Roger Goodell had a hand in the lights going out at Super Bowl XLVII. Ray Lewis says the same thing. The fact is that four of the last six games on NBC have been delayed and stretched beyond normal circumstances.
