It seems like just yesterday that teams from all over the NFL were stuck in a bidding war for Nnamdi Asomugha. The Eagles eventually won the cornerback’s rights, which led to Vince Young dubbing Philadelphia the “Dream Team.”
The “Dream Team” moniker didn’t last with the Eagles, and neither did Asomugha. The team will release the 31-year-old corner on Wednesday, according to Howard Eskin of Fox 29 TV.
Asomugha signed a five-year, $60 million contract in July 2011. Asomugha has $4 million of his contract guaranteed for 2013, according to Rotoworld.
Asomugha was a top cornerback during his eight years in Oakland. He struggled with a change in scheme in Philadelphia.
There are conflicting reports about the Eagles’ intentions. Albert Breer of NFL.com says the team does not plan to release Asomugha on Wednesday. If Asomugha is released, he will immediately become a free agent. Teams would not have to wait until the league start date of March 12 to sign him.

If the Philadelphia Eagles pursue safety Kenny Phillips in free agency, they might be able to thank LeSean McCoy for making it possible. If you don’t recall, it was McCoy who put a juke on Phillips in Week 4 of 2012 that caused him to twist his knee and do some damage to his MCL and PCL.

According to Les Bowen of Philly.com, both the Eagles and Texans have reached out to Eric Winston following his release from the Chiefs last night. Word is, the Eagles were one of the first two teams to reach out to Drew Rosenhaus, who represents Winston, and so many other former Miami Hurricanes. The other team to express immediate interest apparently was the Texans, who drafted...

The best kind of DeSean Jackson is one that’s engaged, involved, active, blazing around the corners of defenses, juking and hopping before weak-kneed defenders, taunting opponents and fans with equal fervor and, yes, a nuclear level of douchiness.
That was not 2012 Jackson. The guy you snatched in the late fifth or early sixth round of last year’s fantasy drafts posted abysmal...
