According to Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe, both the New England Patriots and the representatives for wide receiver Wes Welker are expected to be working hard this week to agree on a new contract.
The problem now, is that the Patriots and Welker’s reps can’t agree on how to structure a third year for the 31 year-old receiver.
I believe there’s a good chance that both sides could get a deal done on July 16th, at the last possible minute. If they don’t, Welker will be playing the 2012 season under the franchise tag.
