Rob Ryan, who preducted he would be out of work for "like five minutes" when he was let go by the Dallas Cowboys after the season, has landed a job as defensive coordinator with the St. Louis Rams, ESPN reported. It took a little longer than Ryan predicted after his firing in Dallas on Jan. 8, but Ryan is headed to the Rams in a move that had been speculated for a week or more. NFL Network reported that Ryan and the Rams reached an agreement but that a contract was not yet signed. Ryan, 50, will replace a collection of Rams assistants who filled in for former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who was suspended last season by the NFL for his role in the New Orleans bounty scandal while he was with the Saints. Earlier this month, the Rams announced that Williams was no longer employed by the team. Rams coach Jeff Fisher played for Ryan's father, Buddy, with the Chicago Bears and served as his defensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. The ax fell on Ryan in Dallas after two seasons as defensive coordinator. The Cowboys finished 19th overall in defense, 21st in pass defense in the NFL and missed the playoffs in 2012 with an 8-8 record.
