For a guy that sure hasn’t done much in the league besides get himself in trouble and let offenses burn him, former Raiders LB Rolando McClain had quite the hosting.
A few hours after he went unclaimed on waivers Monday, McClain reportedly had several teams interested and already three offers on the table.

One of the three offers was from the Baltimore Ravens, and he’s nearing a deal to join the defending Super Bowl Champs.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported this morning that the two sides are working on a deal that would make McClain a Raven, taking over for Hall of Fame Linebacker Ray Lewis. From the report, they’ll be meeting today to finalize a few issues, and McClain would join the team.
McClain stems from an Alabama defense that both NT Terrence Cody and LB Courtney Upshaw were a part of, both picks of GM Ozzie Newsome, who is an Alabama graduate himself.
He was drafted eighth overall in 2010 where he disappointed for the Raiders for many years, accounting for just 246 tackles and 6.5 sacks over three years.
The Raiders’ scheme has changed over the course of three seasons, but McClain could never grasp any of them. He says that joining the Ravens will help him be successful because the type of defense they play is similar to what made him a collegiate standout at Alabama.
“It’s a move that can’t go wrong and I’m looking forward to playing in Baltimore as the Ravens run the same or very similar defense as I was a part of at the University of Alabama,” McClain told Madison Weekly News reporter Bob Labbe, via NFL.com. ”Ray Lewis retired after winning the Super Bowl and I look to fill his slot. No one can fill his shoes, but I can fill his slot. I just want to fill out the shoes of Rolando McClain. This is a perfect fit for me personally.
His off the field issues were deciding factors in his release from Oakland as well. He has had several run-ins with the law resulting in several arrests.
For the Ravens’ sake, McClain needs to be motivated, and the change of scenery may help him. But if he acts anything like he did during his time in Oakland, he’ll be looking for another job before he knows it.
