According to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, even though Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has stated that he’s looking forward to offseason workouts, a source has indicated that he doesn’t plan on attending until he gets a new long-term contract. The Ravens placed the franchise tag on Rice about a month ago and if they want to sign him to a long-term deal before the season begins, they’ll have until July 15th.  After then he’ll be forced to play the 2012 season under the tag, which will pay him about $7.7 million for the season. In the past the Ravens always seem to get their premiere players locked up to long-term contracts.  All we can do now is wait and see what happens.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome has been extremely successful in the NFL draft over the past 16 years, mainly because he and his staff are so adept at judging talent.
