Early in January, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told media that changes were coming in Dallas. Some hoped that this meant head coach Jason Garrett was going to be fired. Instead, Jones chose to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. After being fired, Ryan took to Twitter to tweet that he would be hired in “five minutes”.
Ryan went on to interview in Saint Louis and was reportedly close to signing with the team, before they chose to go in another direction.
Cue the New Orleans Saints as suitors for Rob Ryan as their next defensive coordinator.
New Orleans let former defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo go this January after stories came forth that some players had issues with how Spagnuolo ran the team.
Now, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints plan to hire the former Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
Ryan will bring the 3-4 defense to New Orleans and try to fix a team that ranked dead last in yards allowed per game.
