Found September 11, 2013 on Steelers Depot:
According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones is expected to start Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals at right outside linebacker. "That's the way it is right now," Jones told the media after Wednesday's practice. "As long as I continue to keep doing what I'm doing, I hope it stays like that." Even though Jones is now scheduled to start, head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday during his press conference that he again expects to use some sort of rotation similar to the one that was used in the Sunday opener against the Tennessee Titans. Jason Worilds started against the Titans and played 46 snaps to Jones' 30. Neither linebacker tore up the stat sheet, however, and that is something that must change Monday night against the Bengals. The Steelers drafted Jones in the first-round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Georgia. Jones was originally pegged as a top ten draft pick but stenosis co...

Steelers Week 2 Depth Chart Has Jarvis Jones Listed As Co-Starter

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their second depth chart of the 2013 season and it includes some notable changes. Rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones, who played nearly half the snaps in the opener against the Tennessee Titans, is now listed as the co-starter at right outside linebacker alongside Jason Worilds. Jones registered one tackle on defense for a stop Sunday as he tackled...

The Steelers' success will be determined by the Offensive Line

For the last two seasons, the general knock on the Steelers was that their defense was perhaps too old to remain competitive.  They went on to field the number one defense in each of the last two seasons.  So much for being too old.  But big names such as Farrier, Hampton, Harrison, Foote, and Smith are now absent from that defense.  They’ll still give up some big plays...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Is the offense doomed this season?

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense looked lousy in the season opener. The offensive side of the ball during the offseason was surrounded by various questions and concerns. Those questions and concerns have now followed the team into the regular season. The Steelers were surprised at home by the Tennessee Titans, the Steelers lost 16-9. Is the Steelers offense doomed to have a terrible...

Not the Best Start for Sanders

As most of you know, the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t discuss contracts during the season. With that in mind, Emmanuel Sanders will become a free agent at the end of this season since there was not extension granted to him. This doesn’t mean he won’t be a Steeler next year, but the likelihood is very slim. Unfortunately for Sanders, the opener was not the kind of debut he was...

Beachum a quick study at center for Steelers

Kelvin Beachum beat the odds to make the Pittsburgh Steelers a year ago, going from seventh-round draft pick to starting right tackle by the end of the season. Beachum finds himself facing an even more daunting task this fall: replacing Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey. Beachum will start in place of Pouncey on Monday night when the Steelers travel to Cincinnati. Pouncey will have...

Reasons Why Ben Roethlisberger Wasn’t at Practice Today

Several Steelers’ beat writers tweeted out today that Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was not at practice today. He was excused due ‘personal reasons’ but I think there is much more to this story. I have this boiled down to a few reasons why the 10th-year QB would miss practice coming off such an embarrassing loss. See if you’re on board with me here...

Steelers will start Redman in week 2

Isaac Redman was named the starting running back today by Mike Tomlin. Redman had a rough week last week, he fumbled twice and picked up eight yards on nine carries before getting benched. “Obviously he played a bad game,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “He’ll be given an opportunity to redeem himself.” With LaRod Stephens-Howling (knee) out […]

In a flurry of necessary roster moves, the Pittsburgh Steelers have changed the make-up of their team in just a few days.According to Josh Alper of NBCSports, the Pittsburgh Steelers have placed center, Maurkice Pouncey, linebacker, Larry Foote and running back, LaRod Stephens-Howling, on season-ending injured reserve from injuries suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans...

Jarvis Jones and Chris Johnson exchange words

by Bo Marchionte PITTSBURGH - Unless you have been living under a rock since the 1970's there is a tradition in Pittsburgh, the Steelers connecting each generation of linebackers to success. The 1970's saw Jack Lambert and Jack Ham. The 1980's Mike Merriweather. In the 1990's, Greg Lloyd, Kevin Greene, and Levon Kirkland. At the turn of the century, another...

Steelers Versus Titans Sack Break Down

By Alex Kozora In weeks with multiple sacks allowed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, I’ll be breaking down each individual one, assigning blame, and keeping track of a “sack counter” for the guilty parties. And this week, with five allowed against the Tennessee Titans, was worthy of an article dedicated to it. Buckle up, this one is a bumpy ride. 1. 1st and 10, 2:06 left in the...

Steelers Primer – Week 2 – at Cincinnati Bengals

Week two is upon us and after the performance we saw on Sunday, one has to be worried about this game, which will be in prime time, on Monday night. About the only good that came out of Sunday was that the rest of the division lost their games, so the Steelers are still tied for the division lead. Aside from that, a lot of the concerns I wrote about last week were proved to be genuine...
