According to a story via the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Cleveland Browns have already found a home for free agent safety, Usama Young. Young has only been eligible to practice for a few days but has been consistently lined up at the safety position opposite T.J. Ward.
Young has spent the majority of his career as a backup with New Orleans and rarely saw starting time other than his college years at Kent State. The Browns can be considered weak at the safety position after losing Abe Elam to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month.
According to Pat Shurmur (Via the Plain Dealer), We feel good that he’s here, They (the safeties) have to be able to work together, take charge and communicate well. And then you typically play on the weak side, so you’ve got to be able to come up and support the run. That’s what we’re looking for. We feel like [Young] can do that.
