More fuel has been thrown on the fire involving St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Greg Williams and his alleged bounty program, this time stemming back to his tenure as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.

Four former Bills players have come forward, telling the Buffalo News that Williams paid them cash bonuses for injuring opponents with what they called “knockout hits”. Williams served as Buffalo's head coach from 2001-2003.

Former safety Coy Wire, the only player to reveal his identity, told the newspaper that “there was financial compensation," for taking opponents out of the game. Wire says there was an environment of "malicious intent" when he arrived in Buffalo in 2002.

Williams is being investigated by the NFL for similar actions while serving as the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints between 2009-2011. The NFL revealed Friday that Williams not only offered bonuses for sacks and interceptions but also put bounties on certain players.

Williams admitted to the claims and apologized in a statement Friday.
