EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Former Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe has finally found a new team two days before training camp begins.Multiple reports say Shiancoe, 32, signed with the New England Patriots on Tuesday after a five-year run with Minnesota that included 208 catches and 24 touchdowns. Shiancoe, who had 36 catches for 409 yards last season with the Vikings, agreed to a one-year, 1.2 million contract with New England, according to a report on NFL.com, and could earn as much as 2 million a source told NFL Network's Steve Wyche.Shiancoe had worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday morning and was reportedly deciding between Philadelphia and the Patriots.A nine-year veteran, Shiancoe was an unrestricted free agent this offseason and Minnesota chose to move on from the aging tight end, instead going younger with second-year draftee Kyle Rudolph and 28-year-old John Carlson, who the team signed to a five-year, 25 million deal from the Seattle Seahawks.Shiancoe was signed as a free agent from the New York Giants in 2007 by the Vikings, becoming a full-time player for the first time in his career. His best season came in 2009 with quarterback Brett Favre coming to Minnesota when Shiancoe had 56 catches for 566 yards and 11 touchdowns.A former third-round pick by New York, Shiancoe goes from one team in Minnesota that intended to use the tight ends heavily to another that has perfected the two tight-end system in New England. The Patriots feature Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez heavily and have also have added Jake Ballard from the Giants and Daniel Fells from the Denver Broncos in the offseason. Ballard and Fells are starting the season on the physically unable to perform list and New England also has rookie Tyler Urban. The Patriots open training camp on Thursday, July 26.
