Down and Distance:
If you were to give me three names of coaches that are on the hot seat going into the 2013 NFL Season, I’d bet that Jets head man Rex Ryan would be one of those names. After an impressive start to his tenure in New York (If you want to call it that. Mangini built that team), Ryan’s Jets quickly became a mess of a team. From bringing in Tim Tebow, to unnamed players bashing each other time and time again. Rex Ryan says he deserves more credit as a top-notch coach.(AP Photo) Rex though, has high praises for a man that could be at the end of his time in the big apple. “I’m a hell of a lot better football coach than I’m given credit for,” Ryan said Thursday, via Newsday. But despite the lack of credit, Ryan says he’s not concerned. “I don’t care,” he said. “I don’t need the credit. But I can tell you one thing, when it’s said and done, they’ll look back and say, ‘Oh man, this dude can coach his butt off.’ And you know what? It’s true. And I’ll let the people that know best talk on my behalf about the kind of coach I am. I don’t have to brag, even though statistically, I can brag about anything I’ve ever done defensively.” While I do believe he is on the hot seat, he’s right, he’s one hell of a defensive coach. I’d take him as my defensive coordinator any day. That’s where he’s at his best, in my opinion. Him with an open mic isn’t a good thing – and as a head coach that’s what he’s been given. “They’ll say, ‘He’s a hell of a football coach, and you know what? He had more passion than anybody who’s ever coached here before.’ Eventually that’s what’s going to be said about me,” Ryan said. BEST OF MAXIM
Rex Ryan is coming off his worst season as head coach of the Jets, but if you thought that would stop him from speaking his mind and pumping his chest, think again.
In fact, the season — one in which the Jets went 6-10 and subsequently cleaned house — may have been fuel to the fire.
“I’m a hell of a lot better football coach than I’m given credit for,” Ryan told Newsday...
Rex Ryan knows he's living on borrowed time this season. It's either an extended run into the playoffs or the unemployment line for the head coach of the New York Jets.
With a depleted roster and another unstable quarterback situation, the cards are stacked high against Ryan still being with the Jets on New Year's Day. Still, the blustery coach was defiant as ever...
Darrelle Revis is a distant memory in the New York Jets' new-look secondary.
Gone is the man considered by many to be one of the best players in team history, and perhaps the best cornerback in the NFL. But, Rex Ryan believes Antonio Cromartie can handle the load of being the No. 1 guy - especially since he did it last season when Revis got hurt.
Ryan says Thursday that Cromartie...
Rex Ryan Calling Bill Belichick A Genius In That’s My Boy (by nws7verizonnet)
I really do love Rex. Please coach the Jets 4-eva.
Rex Ryan is looking to bolster his team's offense. After minicamp the team signed former Patriots TE Kellen Winslow. Despite a career plagued by injuries, Ryan thinks Winslow is still 'very athletic' saying that "you certainly feel his presence."
Rex Ryan isn’t quite ready to go back to making bold claims about what his team is going to do in the upcoming year, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t the same old blowhard we are all used to. He’s been making all kinds of public comments as of late, like taking a shot at the Patriots signing Tim Tebow, and threatening to replace all his wide receivers, and even making a comment...
As injuries and poor play afflict the New York Jets wide receiving corps. Head coach Rex Ryan expressed his displeasure with his wideouts weak performance in camp this past week.
Rex Ryan complained about all the dropped passes by his receivers on the first day of minicamp. On the second day, things didn't get any better.
At least the New York Jets' top receiver didn't have any bobbles: Santonio Holmes didn't practice. He won't for a while.
Holmes has been out since last September, when he broke his left foot. He spoke Wednesday about...
According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, Jets head coach Rex Ryan told the media that they might develop a read-option package for rookie quarterback Geno Smith even if he’s not the starter.
Ryan said they could have a read-option package for Geno Smith even if he's the backup. Kinda like the … uh, Tebow plan. #Jets

It’s the middle of June and most NFL teams are preparing for the season with mini-camps, and signing free agents, but not the Jets. The Jets are yet again making headlines for the wrong reasons. Let’s start with the day after the NFL draft and the five quarterbacks on the Jets’ roster, who were led to believe that it is going to be an “open competition”; weeks later...
Finally after enduring a season with head coach Rex Ryan and the New York Jets, quarterback Tim Tebow has found a new home with the New England Patriots.Tebow signed a two-year deal Tuesday to compete with Ryan Mallett as the head clipboard holder behind Tom Brady on the Patriots' depth chart with no guaranteed money. At this point it does not matter where on the depth chart Tebow...
Craig Carton, Mike Francesa, Don La Greca, Chris Carlin, Rex Ryan and Bill Belichick all talk Tim Tebow.
