PLAYERS: Rex Ryan
Twitter nearly exploded last night when Jets QB mark Sanchez through a pick-6 to Lions rookie DE Ziggy Ansah. Everyone on social media was taking about it but apparently Rex Ryan didn’t see it. Ryan told reporters, per ESPN New York “I never saw it. I caught the tail end of it.” - August 10 Although Ryan is taking a bigger role with his defense this season I don’t know if I believe that he didn’t see the play. Ford Field erupted as the play happened and I really doubt that Ryan didn’t watch any of the replays that were surely shown on the Ford Field screens. I hope Rex knows that even though he is ignoring the play we aren’t. The play can be seen here. Need NFL Tickets? Loading... Jets' Ryan answers criticism over not watching QBs

Rex Ryan wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. Sure, the New York Jets coach missed a few plays by his quarterbacks as he focused on the defense in the preseason opener at Detroit on Friday night. But Ryan says that's not unlike every other NFL coach - it's just that he wasn't afraid to say it. Ryan took some criticism after the game when he said he didn'...

Rex Ryan didn't see pick six

Is Rex Ryan trying to keep his thoughts on the Jets' quarterback race to himself? The coach claims he didn't see Mark Sanchez's pick six.

Jets Open Preseason With Loss To Lions: 5 Things We Learned

Yes, it was only the first preseason game but we still learned a few things.  Here are the five most important things we learned:5. Rex Ryan doesn't have time to watch the offenseNow, that could explain a whole lot.  When asked about the interception Mark Sanchez tossed in the first quarter, the head coach replied "he never saw it"?  Does that philosophy apply to...

New York Jets Quarterback Competition Gets Ugly

The New York Jets‘ quarterback competition has been a pretty ugly sight for at least a couple of months now, but it looks even worse after the 26-17 loss to the Detroit Lions in the preseason opener Friday night. In the third quarter, rookie Geno Smith limped off the field after rolling his right ankle in an awkward fall as he scrambled away from pressure.  Despite the initial...

Rex Ryan Says He Wasn’t Watching Mark Sanchez or Geno Smith Play

Sometimes I think Rex Ryan is just trolling and this is probably one of those times. When they asked him what did he think of Geno Smith’s performance and ankle injury here is what he said. “I had my own issues on the other side of the ball, so I really never focused a whole lot when he was in there.” When they asked him about Mark Sanchez’s Pick 6, the answer wasn’t that...

Rex Ryan ‘Never Saw’ Mark Sanchez’s Pick-Six, Says He ‘Never Really Focused’ on Watching Geno Smith

If you’re wondering who has the edge in the Jets’ quarterback competition between Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith, don’t ask the head coach. Rex Ryan, who has taken over duties running the defense this season, apparently wasn’t too interested in watching his signal-callers perform during New York’s preseason-opening 26-17 loss to the Lions on Friday night. Sanchez started the...

AFC East preview: New York Jets

New York Jets 2012: 6-10, tied for 3rd in AFC East After a disappointing 6-10 finish to the 2012 regular season, Rex Ryan and the New York Jets entered training camp with an extensive list of changes that desperately needed to be made in order to start “Gang Green” on the long path to rebuilding their franchise. If Ryan is unable to successfully oversee the implementation of...

Rex Ryan defends Geno Smith

There was some talk coming out of West Virginia this past weekend that New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith wasn’t the leader people thought he was. Whether it’s true or not is one thing but there’s one person standing by his side, his head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan didn’t sound too happy that his former teammates would say stuff like this now and took his own shot at the university...

Mark Sanchez Wastes No Time Sucking in 2013

It took only three pass attempts in the first preseason game of 2013 for Mark Sanchez to remind us why he lacks the makings of a real NFL quarterback. It seems Rex Ryan is the only person in the world who still believes Sanchez can play.

2013 New York Jets Defensive Line: The Sum of The Parts

The defensive line of the 2013 New York Jets has gotten an agglomeration of hype from pundits and fans alike and is expected to be a bright spot on a team of unknowns. However, observers at every level have been putting square pegs into round holes when it comes to the men in the trenches. Most envision a starting line up in either a 3-4 or 4-3 formation, with players pigeonholed...

Jets QB Mark Sanchez Throws Pick 6 on First Drive But Bounces Back Well

Oh boy. I am sure that New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan was hoping for a nice game from his longtime QB to make the decision process easier, but come on. Did anyone really think it would happen? From Twitter Account @MarkSanchezFANS Both Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith are listed as the No. 1 QB for the Jets, but Sanchez got the start Friday in the team's first...
