PLAYERS: Rex RyanJosh Cribbs
TEAMS: New York Jets

Jets head coach Rex Ryan wants his players rested and ready to go against the Patriots and it sounds like he told his guys to relax at home and not do too much. Jets wide receiver Josh Cribbs told the media that Rex told them, “don’t do nothing for your wife.” Rookie Sheldon Richardson got the message. “Most definitely,” said Richardson, when he  was asked if Ryan was referring to sex, per the NY Daily News. Rex later claimed he wasn’t talking about sex. Later on Ryan stated that he meant chores, not sex. Once again that’s not the story Cribbs told. “He was like…rest your legs, you go home, don’t do nothing for your wife. Say baby, next week,” said Cribbs. “You’ll take out the trash next week. I’ll take the kids to practice next week but I’ve got to rest for this game. “I’m going to tell him to put him on paper so when I give it to my wife, I can be like, Rex said that I don’t got to take out the trash. So he might get a call.”   Need NFL Tickets? Loading... ZergNet The post Rex Ryan tells his players to avoid sex during Patriots week appeared first on Pro Football Zone.

Rex Ryan didn't ban sex, says chores message was 'misinterpreted'

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Rex Ryan has provided plenty of memorable quotes during his four-plus years as coach of the New York Jets. This one, though, might have topped them all. No, it wasn’t a guarantee or bold prediction. In an attempt to clarify what he told his players at a team meeting earlier this week, Ryan offered this declaration Thursday to avoid some apparent confusion...

Cribbs sees chance for career 'rebirth' with Jets

Josh Cribbs says he is ''kind of 111 percent'' healthy and excited about adding a spark to the New York Jets. Cribbs says Wednesday he's looking at his opportunity with the Jets...

TOJ – Initial Reaction to New York Jets Signing WR/KR Josh Cribbs

The New York Jets signed former three time Pro Bowler Josh Cribbs today, after working out the former Brown and Raider in March and October. Cribbs, a 2009 All-Pro with 11 career returns for a touchdown, is expected to add depth to the wide receiver group and will hopefully provide a boost to a special teams unit that has been searching for an adequate punt returner for what seems...

Josh Cribbs joins NY Jets and says he's ready to help

New Jets WR/KR Josh Cribbs had been waiting and waiting for the call back to the NFL. On Monday he heard exactly what he was hoping for. Cribbs missed a call from his agent while he was driving his car but received a text message that said to call back as soon as possible. So the former Brown pulled over and prayed that it was the call he was hoping for. “I called him back and...

Rex Ryan tells NY Jets players no messing around before Patriots game

When it comes to facing the Patriots Rex Ryan isn’t fooling around. As for his players well that depends on who you talk to. Ryan in a team meeting Wednesday told the Jets they need to be well-rested when Tom Brady and Co. hit MetLife Stadium on Sunday and according to Josh Cribbs added “Don’t do nothing for your wife.” To defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson that not...

Rex Ryan wants to beat the Patriots so bad he's telling players to abstain from sex, or maybe he isn't

So, this one's a little bit weird. Josh Cribbs told the New York media that Ryan told the team to "Say no to the wife" this week. Which he meant innocently, as in rest up your legs, don't take out the trash, etc. etc. Of course, in typical Ryan fashion, the comment became a point of mockery. NFL.com: "I can tell he really wants this game," said Cribbs...

New York Jets Defensive Snap Count – Analysis and Previewing Week 7

Due to Rex Ryan’s complicated defensive schemes that sometimes put players in positions they’re not fully accustomed to, I decided to also note where New York Jets players were lining up, along with tallying their snap count.  For example, I notched down what “techniques” defensive lineman were lined up in, if safeties were playing on the deeper level or in the front seven’s...

Jets rookie Sheldon Richardson: The NFL protects Tom Brady

Sheldon Richardson is an impressive rookie defensive lineman, and is becoming very comfortable in his role as a masher for Rex Ryan's defense. He is also very comfortable speaking his mind with the NY media. With the Jets readying themselves for their second game against the rival Patriots, that is a good recipe for a quote or two in the lead up. Speaking with Steve Serby of...

New York Jets veteran right guard Willie Colon hates the New England Patriots. “I just hate them,” he said to the New York Daily News. Colon was fined $34,000 in the Jets’ 13-10 loss to the Patriots in Week 2. “I don’t like them,” Colon said in the run-up to the rematch Sunday at MetLife Stadium. “But at the same time you got to respect what they’ve done as an organization...
