Found March 29, 2014 on Down and Distance:

(Richard Sherman’s Twitter) Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver have apparently known each other for a long time. Sherman tweeted out the above picture as well as this tweet in a show of support for the man he has known since they played youth sports together:   It has been widely speculated that Jackson was outright released by the Eagles because of his alleged associations with gang members. Since he has been in the league, the mercurial Pro Bowler has never been arrested for a serious crime like drunk driving or assault. In a report from NJ.com, Jackson was stopped for illegal tinting in 2009, after which marijuana was discovered in his vehicle. He later pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and all other chargers were dropped. Jackson was originally drafted by the Eagles in the second round (49th overall) of the 2008 NFL draft out of the University of California. In six seasons, he has made the Pro Bowl three times and was selected once AP First-team All Pro. For his career, Jackson has played in 87 games, amassing 356 games for 6,117 and 32 touchdowns. The Jaccpocalypse Comes To An End

After weeks of speculation, the Eagles announced Friday that they’ve parted ways with receiver DeSean Jackson. According to the Eagles, they informed Jackson of their decision to release him after “careful consideration.” The announcement came soon after a chilling NJ.com report stated that the Eagles were concerned with “Jackson’s continued association with reputed Los...

Again, “zero” chance Bucs acquire DeSean Jackson (Audio)

The national media ran with the headlines over the weekend about the Buccaneers having interest in (now former) Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson.  After the Tampa Bay Times published a story about the Bucs having “lukewarm” interest in Jackson, it was only a matter of time before the story would be twisted to Tampa Bay having interest.  Well if you are good...

Raiders rumors: The Oakland Raiders have interest in DeSean Jackson.

There is a great deal of surprise surrounding the recent events around DeSean Jackson being cut by the Eagles after they failed to trade him, one thing that is not a surprise is that the Oakland Raiders have expressed and interest in signing the wide receiver. The Raiders have a ton of cap space and try as they might, no way to fill it, this means Jackson's biggest contract offer...

Three reasons DeSean Jackson should be in a San Diego uniform

By now, we all know the DeSean Jackson saga. Amidst bizarre allegations of gang affiliation without any prior arrests or legal issues, the Eagles cut Jackson on Friday for reasons no one seems to be 100 percent sure about. It’s unfair to assume anything about Jackson without any proof and coming off his career-best season in which he amassed over 1,300 receiving yards to go along...

DeSean Jackson To Meet With Redskins Monday

Dianna Marie Russini is reporting that DeSean Jackson will meet with the Redskins on Monday. Redskins sources: DeSean Jackson is expected to visit with Washington this Monday — Dianna Marie Russini (@NBCdianna) March 29, 2014 This is an epic announcement for two reasons. First it keeps DeSean off the West Coast like some in his camp would prefer.  Second, it would allow Jackson...

DeSean Jackson released, Patriots reportedly could "in the mix"

In what seemed inevitable after they could get no one to bite on trading a third rounder, the Eagles released wide receiver DeSean Jackson. As has been the case since it was reported that the Pats were one of the teams which asked about Jackson, the team is still considered in the mix for his services according to Mike Florio: Teams that definitely were interested in...

In the end, Chip Kelly didn't want DeSean Jackson on the Eagles

DeSean Jackson didn't change; the Eagles did when Chip Kelly became head coach. The Eagles knew about Jackson's alleged gang connections, his problems with authority, and his locker-room dramas long before Friday, when they released the wide receiver. They knew what they were getting when they drafted him in 2008. So for the team to imply that his off-the-field behavior...

Philadelphia Eagles Cut DeSean Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles have cut ties with wide receiver DeSean Jackson. At 27, Jackson is coming off one of the best seasons in his NFL career.  82 catches for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns. The move on its surface seems curious, but what is sparking the move has nothing to do with his on field talent. The Eagles were reportedly concerned about Jackson’s attitude and ties...

High School AD, Teachers Say DeSean Jackson Wasn’t in Gang

Last week NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson was released from the Philadelphia Eagles despite having one of the best seasons of his career. Reports of alleged gang affiliation were cited to be the reason the Eagles decided to part ways with the 27-year old. Rumors of the Eagles shopping Jackson around for a trade started weeks ago so these reports seemed to come at the perfect timing...

Should the Ravens pursue DeSean Jackson?

The Eagles sent waves through the NFL today, announcing that they have released star wide receiver, DeSean Jackson.  Jackson, who had over 1,300 yards last season in his most productive year as a pro, was rumored to be shopped around the league in recent weeks.  The Eagles, who had extended him just two years prior to a contract worth nearly $50 million, gave new deals this offseason...

NFL Draft 2014: 5 Wide Receiver Targets for Philadelphia Eagles

After the big news dropped on Friday of the Philadelphia Eagles releasing DeSean Jackson, there is certainly a void at the wide receiver position for the Eagles. While addressing the safety position may be of the bigger concern, it never hurts to weigh your options. With that being said, the following five players should be […]

Risk to Tampa Bay Buccaneers not worth reward for DeSean Jackson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have filled most of the team needs through free agency this year. A position still considered a need is wide receiver. DeSean Jackson has hit the market as the Philadelphia Eagles released their top receiving threat due to off-field concerns. So should Tampa bay pursue Jackson? There are some positives and some negatives of the Buccaneers going after...

Former NFLer Derrick Ward Blasts ESPN for its DeSean Jackson Coverage

On the same day the Eagles released Pro-Bowl wideout DeSean Jackson, former NFL running back, Derrick Ward, came to the defense of Jackson. Ward took to Twitter today to criticize both Tedy Bruschi, Ron Jaworski and ESPN for its Jackson coverage. These ESPN analyst sound real dumb right now talking about @DeseanJackson10 They think they know what they're talking about but they...

DeSean DeJour and Gruden’s Upcoming Year ☆

Story contributed by Scott Hirsch. Let’s get straight to the point – the Redskins bringing DeSean Jackson on Monday is a brilliant coaching move. Let’s put aside the hope that if they offer him a contract, it better have an “Aaron Hernandez” proof clause. What this move shows me about Gruden is that he’s willing to react to the market and not get overly stuck his plan...

Scar Tissue

So it's a day later, and an awful lot of sports talk around my poker table, on the blogs and the radio, as the DeSean Jackson release permeates. There is, of course, only one way for this to go now. Jackson must be vilified and marginalized, because he's no longer on the team. You can either stop being a fan of the team and follow Jackson to his new digs, or stay with the...
