Despite a 3-1 record that has surprised most NFL fans, the Miami Dolphins are not without their troubles. Through four games, the ‘Fins have given up 18 sacks, good for an unsightly 4.5 sacks per game. At that pace, Miami would allow 72 sacks, the fourth-worst single-season total ever. No one denies how bad that number is thus far, but Dolphins’ guard Richie Incognito took the criticism to a whole new level. “If we give up 72 sacks, everybody should be fired. The whole offensive line,” Incognito told the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. “If [quarterback Ryan Tannehill] gets sacked 72 times there is obviously a major problem. I don’t think anybody can handle that many sacks.” It’s not too often a professional athlete says he or any of his teammates should lose their jobs, but Incognito is clearly frustrated. Fortunately for the ninth year guard, the onus doesn’t completely fall on him or his linemen. According to a report by Yahoo! Sports, running backs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas have each allowed three sacks in blocking situations, while tight ends Charles Clay and Dion Sims have allowed a sack a piece. That means Incognito’s line has only given up 10 sacks on the year, but would still be on pace for 40 on the season. Still, Incognito admits something needs to change. “We’re sick of hearing about it. We’re sick of talking about it every week,” he said. “It just comes a point where you got to [man] up and get it done.” Photo via Facebook/RichieIncognito Filed under: Headlines, Miami Dolphins, NFL, Pat Bradley
