To say Robert Kraft had nothing but good things to say about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would be an understatement. Goodell is often criticized for his not-so-favorable decisions when it comes to the play of the field. He’s viewed by peers as someone who cares more about the owners then the game itself. Kraft was asked about Goodell in a profile on the Commissioner on Outside the Lines. “I think we really lucked out with him as commissioner,” Kraft said. “I think Roger, once he assumed this position, really runs the NFL like he owns it and thinks like an owner.” Kraft believes Goodell doesn’t need to be popular at all and that he should just focus on being a good commissioner. “To be honest, I really don’t focus on how players view the commissioner,” Kraft said. “All I know is he’s very tough but very fair, and he’s doing a job, and it’s not going to help him win popularity contests. I want him to do things just the way he’s doing them.” Remember, the owners hold the key to Goodell’s office — it seems Goodell has bought into the concept “keep your boss(es) happy.”
