Rod Streater signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent immediately following the conclusion of the draft. A product of Temple University, Streater’s odds were long to make the Raiders 53 man roster. However, after a strong preseason, Streater left an impression that earned him a roster spot. Streater is 6th among NFL rookie wide receivers with 28 receptions and is 6th in receiving yards with 429 yard and 3 touchdowns. In a season of injuries and inconsistent play within the receiving corps, Streater has been a ray of light towards the future. Streater wasn’t sure he would be playing football, let alone a cog in the Raiders’ offense rebuilding project. "I didn't think I'd be playing football anymore," Streater said. "Honestly, I was looking for a job and just gave it a shot. I might as well work out. I like to work out. I had a good pro day, and things just turned around from there. I'm just glad I gave it a shot," according to Jerry McDonald of the mercurynews.com. Streater’s Offensive Coordinator Gregg Knapp says: “He's got pretty good savvy for a rookie," Knapp said. It’s not too big for him. He shows a great sense of calmness and awareness during a game." Carson Palmer adds: "He's a rookie, but you would never know it. He's athletically gifted, he's fast, he catches the ball really well, and he does not think the game like a rookie.
