Ben Roethlisberger returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers starting line up wearing all most as much armor under his jersey as a bomb squad worker. The Steelers fell to the San Diego Chargers in Roethlisberger’s return leaving the Steelers fans stunned that their guy Ben Roethlisberger couldn’t pull off the magic the team needed to move up in the race for the AFC North after Charlie Batch got the Steelers a win last week over the Ravens who lost to the Redskins yesterday. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a chance to pick up one game on the Ravens. It would have been huge if Roethlisberger could have pulled it off. The Steelers are now 7-6 in the AFC north are could be seeing their chance of post season play slipping away. It was a day when three of the 4 AFC North teams lost. The Chargers are not that good of a football team, they picked the day that Roethlisberger returned to show up and play. It was a fluke, there is no way the Chargers should have beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it happened. Roethlisberger did what he could to win.He completed 22 of the 42 passes he threw for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Steelers defense just couldn’t stop the Chargers from charging away with a win. Pittsburgh now finds themselves in a must win situation if they expect to take it to the post season. One thing is for sure, if the Pittsburgh Steelers fail to make in into post season play it won’t be because of Roethlisberger’s play. The guy made a solid effort to get back into the action.

Steelers playoff hopes alive but if they keep playing this poorly it won’t matter

The Steelers continue to receive gift after gift from the rest of the NFL. Even the loss today at Heinz Field, 34-24 to the lowly Chargers still leaves them in control of the 6th seed in the playoffs by virtue of the Ravens and Bengals both losing.
