PLAYERS: Romeo Crennel
According to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel has stepped down as the defensive coordinator and has appointed linebackers coach Gary Gibbs to take over. Crennel should have probably done this after week two or three.  Now we’ll see if it helps.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = ''+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })(); sr_adspace_id = 1000005525107; sr_adspace_width = 300; sr_adspace_height = 250; sr_ad_new_window = true; sr_adspace_type = "graphic";

Romeo Crennel fires himself as defenseive coordinator of Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are 1-7 this season and are a mess on nearly all phases of football. With Crennel knowing the flaws of the defense he did what any head coach/defensive coordinator would do. He fired himself as the defensive coordinator for a unit who had allowed 30 points per game, 29th in the NFL. Gary Gibbs will take over as the team’s defensive coordinator. The Chiefs...

Romeo Crennel steps down

The Chiefs defense cannot stop anything this season, so head coach Romeo Crennel stepped down on Monday. Well...not from his head coaching post, but hanging up one of his other hats in the organization.

Romeo Crennel Fires Himself As Defensive Coordinator

In a surprising move, but one which we applaud, Romeo Crennel managed to fire himself today from defensive coordinator duties in an effort to turn around the sinking ship that is the Cleveland Browns. Even though they have a 1-7 record, the Browns can at least hang their hat on the fact that they have had a record breaking season thus far. The Chiefs became the first team since the...

Crennel no longer calling shots on defense

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Two weeks ago, Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel benched quarterback Matt Cassel in favor of backup Brady Quinn in an effort to get his team's attention. With his team slipping further into oblivion, Crennel on Monday took another stab at grabbing his 1-7 team's attention by essentially firing himself as defensive coordinator. Crennel announced he would...

Crennel relinquishes defensive duties

Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel relieved himself of duties as defensive coordinator on a day of massive changes that included the waiving of cornerback Stanford Routt and the signing of defensive tackle Shaun Smith. Crennel had been juggling head coaching and coordinator duties since taking over on an interim basis when Todd Haley was fired last December. Gary Gibbs will take over as...

Chiefs Attempt to Slow the Bleeding

On Monday Romeo Crennel announced that he was stepping down from his duties as Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator; actually he would still be carrying on as Head Coach but would be promoting Linebackers Coach Gary Gibbs to Defensive Coordinator.  His reasons were that he wanted to devote more time to the offense (which has The post Chiefs Attempt to Slow the Bleeding appeared...

Chiefs' Recent Desperate Moves Reek More than 1-7 Season

We've just seen word that the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to "shake things up" after a historically bad start to the 2012 season that has left them with a 1-7 record, without holding a lead the entire season, and looking like the clear-cut choice for the worst team in professional football.The good news is that Kansas City Chiefs' Romeo Crennel has relieved...
