Found March 15, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and current ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski was on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly and was asked if Geno Smith is mobile enough to run head coach Chip Kelly’s offense. “The offense that we saw at Oregon will not be run in the NFL,” said Jaws.  ”I can tell you that right now.  Categorically it will not work. I’ve spoken to 20 scouts today, some head coaches today. What everyone is doing is preparing to stop this read-option this whole offseason.  Either the quarterback is going to get crushed, or someone is going to stop it.  I think it will be a combination of both.  So I think Chip will adapt his Oregon offense to the NFL.” I agree with Jaws that the read-option will end soon and that Kelly will have to change-up his offense for the NFL.  Kelly’s offense at Oregon was able to take advantage of slower college players on opposing defenses.  Unlike college, everyone in the NFL is fast.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

  • For the life of me I can not understand why it took this long to figure it out! I'm not expert on football but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!

    But smart enough to know that Roseman and Luarie are idots and they are not worry about winning only selling food and material things!

    Philly fans have to have the bal.. to send them a clear message no fans at the games = loss $'s in Luarie pocket! You need to somehow push him out of ownership of the team! Get a local group to buy the team and start over or be happy with what you have which is nothing!
  • Ron Jaworski's the furthest thing from an expert that I have ever seen! This "loser" played on some of the best DEFENSIVE football teams that have ever played in the NFL (Reggie White, Jerome Brown, etc) and could never win a Super Bowl! All this despite a 6'8" wide receiver (Harold Carmichael), Wilburt Montgomery (a great RB), and one the best receivers in the game (Mike Quick). It is a personal affront to me as a Philadelphia & an NFL fan every time that I see him on ESPN or any other show masquerading as an "expert". I would recommend that he keep his big mouth shut when it comes to criticizing others in the NFL or providing any kind of speculation on any coach or player. In my opinion he is one of the least respected players ever to play the game in Philly as far as the fans are concerned. Most of us were more than happy when he took has last snap as an Eagle!

    Getting back to the story, as far as Chip Kelly's offense is concerned, I would like to withhold judgement until after a few preseason games. However, the Eagles are one of the most athletic teams (as far as RB's, WR's & TE's) on offense, and in the last few years have been constrained by injuries and a VERY conservative play-calling coaching staff. If the offensive line stays injury-free this year I think you will finally see a very productive offense.
  • If you remember Buddy Ryan was the head coach and did not have an offensive clue great defense but not a strong offensive plan. This team beat Atlanta that had a really good team also the Cowboys also an excellent team. The defense certainly did not show up against Oakland only a wild card team.
  • You are obviously not a fan because you'd not be mixing up the players Jaworski played with. Pretty dumb if you are a so-called fan. And Ron has forgotten more football than you will ever know.
