The Pittsburgh Steelers appear poised to get more use out of their defensive rookies than they have in a long time tonight as they take on James Harrison and the Cincinnati Bengals. One of those young defensive players will be Harrison’s replacement, and the team’s first draft selection this year, outside linebacker Jarvis Jones.
There have been reports that Jarvis Jones will indeed be starting tonight over fourth-year veteran Jason Worilds, who started the week before in the loss to the Tennessee Titans. Should that indeed be the case, then you can expect his snap count to rise considerably from the 30 snaps that he logged in Week One.
Worilds played 46 of the defense’s snaps 68 snaps, but you can expect that to decline considerably as well with Jones starting. The Steelers likely will continue to rotate their inside linebackers, but it will now presumably be Worilds on the shallow end of the snap counter rather than Jones.
The Steelers may even break out a three ...

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is not on the hot seat.
Let’s clear that up right now.
If the Steelers lose Monday night in Cincinnati, Mike Tomlin still will not be on the hot seat.
If the Steelers miss the playoffs for the second straight season, Mike Tomlin will not be fired.
If the Steelers go 2-14 in 2013, Mike Tomlin will not be fired.
A 2-14 season followed by, say...
The Pittsburgh Steelers remain winless after Monday night’s 20-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. “We are a frustrated group right now,” Tomlin said via the team’s website. “I just told the group that is a natural
Where are “THE” Pittsburgh Steelers? The team that has been on the field in the since the beginning of the 2013 are not the Steelers that NFL fans and NFL teams alike are used to seeing, what is going on?
We are in the second season of the Todd Haley era as Offensive Coordinator, and as far as we have all seen there is something terribly wrong. We will take away the injured...
Steelers fans could be in for a long season. The way the team is playing they could lose more than they win this season. The Steelers offense isn’t able to produce the way they once were. Ben Roethlisberger is getting very little protection and with the big play makers missing there is little chance of the Steelers dominating the AFC North the way they have over the years. When...
There are few debates surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers that get people fired up as much as the one over the ‘Steeler Way.’
Most fans interpret this one of two ways; they either use it to describe how the organization does things or they use it to describe the style of offense the Steelers are supposed to have.
For purposes of this discussion I shall focus on both because one...
Terry Bradshaw is known as one of the best quarterbacks during the 70′s, but man is this guy getting complacent on the television. First off on Sunday, Bradshaw tore into Dallas Cowboys Bill Callahan, saying you will not win football games, with Callahan calling plays like he did in Oakland, and now this. Today Fox […]
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a crucial match-up against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. The Steelers were defeated 20-10.
The Steelers offense looks horrendous. Ben Roethlisberger went 20 for 37 one touchdown and one interception. There’s just no life in the Steelers offense right now and Roethlisberger’s chemistry with his receivers is nowhere to be found...
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley got his 2013 season off to a good start last Sunday against the Tennessee Titans by recording one sack and four total tackles. Should Woodley register his second sack of the season Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, he will pass Greg Lloyd (53.5) for the fifth most sacks in team history since sacks became an official...
The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night and below are my fantasy football stat projections for the black and gold offensive players.
Feel free to add your own projections in the comments below.
Ben Roethlisberger - 29 attempts, 19 completions, 261 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception.
The Steelers will likely want to use a shorter passing game against...
According to the Monday NFL transaction sheet, the Pittsburgh Steelers did not activate cornerback Isaiah Green from their practice squad and that means they will likely be very thin at the cornerback position for the Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
With Cortez Allen already ruled out for the game with an ankle injury suffered last week in the season opener against...
Season 4, Episode 21 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I start by recapping what Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had to say during his Tuesday press conference following the 20-10 loss Monday night to the Cincinnati Bengals and that includes updating the injury situation.
We then move on to break down the Monday night game and take a hard look at...

With the news yesterday that Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen will miss the team’s Week Two game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and Curtis Brown listed as doubtful, one would have to think that safety Robert Golden is in the on-deck circle should an injury occur or an instance for a dime back arise.
It was already evidenced in the season opener that...
The Cincinnati Bengals have never made the playoffs three years in a row. The Pittsburgh Steelers have never missed the postseason in back-to-back seasons under coach Mike Tomlin. Those possibilities are both in play Monday night. While it’s only Week 2 of the NFL season, history shows that the loser of Monday night’s Steelers-Bengals matchup in Cincinnati is likely to be watching...
The same old song and dance for the Steelers; they didn’t look any different from last week’s team. The Bengals defensive line got constant pressure on Ben Roethlisberger all game long, and they clearly rattled him. And of course, the Steelers couldn’t run the ball.
Cincinnati wasn’t perfect, but they did enough offensively to put themselves ahead of the Steelers. Pittsburgh...
While James Harrison is haunting opposing teams on the field, his ghost is busy haunting the Monday Night Football booth.
