2011 Analysis: As the season wore on, and DeVito wore down, the Jets played Marcus Dixon a lot more, and while there were some hiccups at the start of his larger role, Dixon played well enough to warrant a larger role in the Jets defense moving forward. Once Dixon was given the chance he looked raw – getting knocked off the ball some, but also contributing with some timely pressures and sacks for the Jets. Dixon has had a lot of adversity in his life, but at 27, he’s now matured, has the physical skills to play in the NFL, and the smarts to play defensive line for Rex Ryan.
2012 Outlook: Dixon will afford the Jets a very interesting choice this offseason. As he played more he looked better and so the Jets will now have to ask themselves … can he replace Mike DeVito? Rex and the Jets love DeVito, but in a year where they are going to look to pinch
