Who will you be rooting for in the NFC Championship Game? Raj:  I will be rooting for San Francisco. I realize that in terms of simplicity, the Falcons would be an "easier" team for the Patriots. However, I think both teams pose a big threat. The 49ers are a slightly tougher threat but I know that New England can beat this team again. A known devil (San Francisco) is always better than an unknown devil (Atlanta). I'd like one more shot at revenge on the biggest stage in American sports. Stephen:  Once again, this comes down to rooting for an easier matchup vs. the better storyline. And again, I'm going for No. 2. I'd love to see the Pats get another shot at the 49ers, this time on the biggest stage. New England nearly completed a furious comeback against San Fran on Monday Night Football, so putting the stamp on the season with a win over the best team in the NFC would be one hell of way to end the year. Jason:  I'll be rooting for the 49ers, no...

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Justin Smith told the media that he believes he’ll be even better this week as he continues to get used to playing with a brace to protect his torn triceps. “It felt pretty good for the most part, just getting used to it, playing with it,” Smith said of playing with a brace on his left elbow. “It should be even better this week after going...

Jim Harbaugh wants Randy Moss to come back next season

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told the media today that he wants wide receiver Randy Moss to come back next season. Moss recorded 28 receptions for 434 yards and 3 touchdowns during the regular season. I’m not sure why Harbaugh wants Moss back, there are better receivers in free agency then Moss right now. Moss had no comment when asked about Harbaugh wanting him...

49ers seek to break long road playoff drought

SAN FRANCISCO -- For a team as storied as the San Francisco 49ers, it sure has been awhile since the last time they won a road playoff game. Jan. 8, 1989, to be exact. The 49ers traveled to Chicago, where they beat the Bears 28-3 at Solider Field as a pit stop on their way to the Super Bowl title in New Orleans. It wasn't until later that year when rookie running back LaMichael...

49ers waive K Cundiff

The San Francisco 49ers are sticking with David Akers. San Francisco announced Friday that it waived kicker Billy Cundiff. Cundiff was signed by the 49ers on Jan. 1 to compete with the struggling Akers. The 49ers decided to keep Akers as their regular kicker but left Cundiff on the roster prior to their playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers last week. However, they did not...

Reviewing The 49ers' Playoff Road History

One thing that has been lost in all of the discussion of this week's NFC Championship Game is how Jim Harbaugh's 49ers have performed in road playoff games. It's stunning that the pundits have not discussed the road playoff games where Harbaugh's 49ers....um...and...then they...well... Oh - that's right. This is the first road playoff game for all...
