Despite the seeming similarities between the two sports, there isn't very much cross-over between the athletes who play football and rugby. Newly drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round, Nate Ebner of Ohio State University is hoping to be a trendsetter.

A newcomer to football, Ebner had been playing rugby at a high level for years, earning the MVP for the US National U-19 and U-20 teams. Walking on to the Ohio State football team as a sophomore having never played organized ball, Ebner only was on the field for three plays on defense in his three-year career but was widely considered the team's best special teams player.

Ebner considers playing on special teams to be very similar to rugby, where as you can see below he is stunningly good.

"I'm going to be hitting people with my body as long as it can take it," Ebner said. "I'm definitely playing rugby somewhere if I'm not playing football.

"I just enjoy running down as fast as you can. It's just mayhem, it's exciting, it's crazy. It's such a rush. I don't even know what to say about it. It happens so fast. It's just one big blur, and then it's over. I just love it. It's just amazing. Maybe I got a screw loose."

Here's hoping he's able to carve out a career in the NFL, at least they get to wear pads; he seems to have the moves, the speed and the tackling ability to make an impact.
