According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, there are rumors swirling around the NFL Scouting Combine that the Baltimore Ravens will end up placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on quarterback Joe Flacco.  If this is the case, any NFL team would be able to sign Flacco as long as they’re willing to give up two first round picks and the Ravens don’t match the offer sheet. The current speculation, buzz, rumors (whatever) at the Scouting Combine point to the Ravens using the non-exclusive tag while negotiations on a long-term deal continue.  The Ravens then would request, hope, pray (whatever) that Flacco would bring any other offer sheet he gets back to the Ravens before signing it. This strategy would entail plenty of risk.  It’s one thing to ask, hope, pray (whatever) that Flacco would bring back an offer sheet before signing it.  It’s quite another for Flacco to do it — especially if any team that plans to pursue Flacco realizes that a full-court press must be employed, aimed at getting Flacco to sign an offer sheet the Ravens can’t or won’t match.       Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

  • I always thought the Ravens head office was one of the smartest and most istinctive, but someone please try to get over yourself down there. Pay this man. If it is his agent that is causing the problem, then go around him, but pay this guy. The Ravens have never been so successful as when Joe arrioved on the scene even with one of the most destructuve OCs (Cameron) holding him back.

    Since they allowed Jow the freedom to move the ball as he sees it, they have been phenomenal, and it is attributed directly to Flacco. Pay the man, or expose his agent, then pay the man.

    Pure insanity if this is true.
