Saints Coach Payton Will Not Ask Permission To Attend Potential Record-Breaking Game -

Suspended New Orleans head coach Sean Payton doesn’t plan to ask the NFL for special permission to witness Saints quarterback Drew Brees breaking Johnny Unitas’ NFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass. The Saints (0-4) play the San Diego Chargers (3-1) on Sunday night, but Payton won’t be there should Brees set the mark with a TD pass in 48 straight games, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported. “No, no,” Payton said. “I’ve kind of got a full plate here. A handful of people texted me that. Right now, I’ll be able to watch it, and shoot, just being able to watch it on TV is no different than being there in person. It’s just an honor to be connected to this.” The league allowed suspended former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams to attend Sunday’s Seattle Seahawks-St. Louis Rams game, but Payton isn’t going to push it.

Sean Payton Using Suspension as Opportunity to Spend More Time With Family, Still Confident in Saints

Sean Payton has been away from the NFL for about five months now, and for the past four Sundays he's had to watch his team stumble. No longer does...

Even at 0-4, Saints' Kromer sees progress

The Saints are close to becoming a lame-duck team before assistant head coach Joe Vitt returns from his six-game suspension. Even so, interim head coach Aaron Kromer says he won't make drastic changes to a team that has competed hard and showed progress each week during a 0-4 start. The Saints haven't opened this poorly since 2007, which was Sean Payton's second year...

NFL First Quarter Report Card: New Orleans Saints

Even though I predicted that the Saints would not make the playoffs this year, I didn’t see this kind of start coming. A team coming off of the kind of offseason hangover that New Orleans experienced with the whole “bountygate” scandal doesn’t just shrug something like that off. However, to start 0-4 and play as sloppy and uncoordinated as they have, on both sides of the...

New Orleans Saints: Week 5 NFL Power Rankings (#26)

Last week: 26 (+0) Record: 0-4 The bad news is the Saints are 0-4. The good news is that they looked a lot better last week, going into Lambeau Field and playing a solid game in a close loss to the Packers.
