New Orleans Saints
Saints defensive end Will Smith, reinstated Friday after his bounty suspension was lifted by an NFL appeals panel, is in uniform for New Orleans' opener against Washington.
However, Saints starting cornerback Jabari Greer, who spent much of the preseason rehabbing a sports hernia, is out.
Greer was among four players the Saints scratched on Sunday, along with three healthy players: running back Chris Ivory, and defensive tackles Tyrunn Walker and Akiem Hicks.
The Saints entered with 50 players on the active roster after cutting receiver Adrian Arrington and fullback Korey Hall, and using roster exemptions on re-instated linebacker Jon Vilma and linebacker Barrett Ruud.
The Redskins scratched seven players, including safety Brandon Meriweather (left knee), defensive tackle Chris Baker, and guards Josh LeRibeus and Adam Gettis.

Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith are back.It should be interesting to see what happens now.Smith, a defensive end, should not have much of a problem. He was allowed to practice with the team, and should know the defense quite well. He is also a strong all-around end, having been used in both a 3-4 and 4-3. Smith will be a big asset for the Saints as the face rookie QB sensation...

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell can still suspend the players if he proves there was intent to injure. The four players are eligible to play this Sunday.

Allow me to preface this argument by saying I haven't seen the "evidence" that the NFL claims to have against the suspended Saints players and their involvement in the Bounty Scandal, but I have to believe they didn't pull these four names out of a hat.Over the weekend, the courts uplifted the suspensions of Anthony Hargrove, Will Smith, Scott Fujita, and Jonathon...
This, I did not see coming. Will Smith and Jonathan Vilma both have come off suspension as a three person judge panel ruled to overturn their sanctions. That means Scott Fujita will play for the Browns this weekend, Vilma could play but won't because his knee his injured - so he'll be on the PUP list but present at the game, Will Smith will suit up for the Saints, and Anthony...
Yes, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter , the best defensive players on the field for the Saints will be playing Sunday against the Redskins.
Yes, the news is fairly shocking since most expected Will Smith at defensive end was suspended on top of Jon Vilma, the team’s leading tackler.
