New Orleans Saints
Saints defensive end Will Smith, reinstated Friday after his bounty suspension was lifted by an NFL appeals panel, is in uniform for New Orleans' opener against Washington.
However, Saints starting cornerback Jabari Greer, who spent much of the preseason rehabbing a sports hernia, is out.
Greer was among four players the Saints scratched on Sunday, along with three healthy players: running back Chris Ivory, and defensive tackles Tyrunn Walker and Akiem Hicks.
The Saints entered with 50 players on the active roster after cutting receiver Adrian Arrington and fullback Korey Hall, and using roster exemptions on re-instated linebacker Jon Vilma and linebacker Barrett Ruud.
The Redskins scratched seven players, including safety Brandon Meriweather (left knee), defensive tackle Chris Baker, and guards Josh LeRibeus and Adam Gettis.

I’m not sure how effective Smith will be since he hasn’t been on the field for...
The New Orleans Saints activated defensive end Will Smith as part of series of roster moves by the team, the Times-Picayune reported Saturday. Smith was temporary relieved from his suspension for his role in the team's "bounty" scandal. Judges lifted the suspensions of four players involved on Friday. The Saints also got roster exemptions for linebackers Barrett...
Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith are back.It should be interesting to see what happens now.Smith, a defensive end, should not have much of a problem. He was allowed to practice with the team, and should know the defense quite well. He is also a strong all-around end, having been used in both a 3-4 and 4-3. Smith will be a big asset for the Saints as the face rookie QB sensation...
After having their suspensions overturned by an appeals panel on Thursday, four NFL players - Saints LB Jonathan Vilma and DE Will Smith, Browns LB Scott Fujita and free agent DL Anthony Hargrove – were immediately allowed to return to the field as soon as possible.
“Consistent with the panel’s decision, Commissioner Goodell will, as directed, make an expedited...
In stunning news Friday afternoon, the BountyGate suspensions dealt out to players have been overturned by way of appeal.Key players who are now eligible to play are linebacker Jon Vilma, defensive end Will Smith and linebacker Scott Fujita, who is now a member of the Cleveland Browns. A collective bargaining agreement appeals panel overturned the NFL's suspensions of four players involved in the New Orleans Saints "bounty" program.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell can still suspend the players if he proves there was intent to injure. The four players are eligible to play this Sunday.
"Consistent with the panel's decision, Commissioner...
Allow me to preface this argument by saying I haven't seen the "evidence" that the NFL claims to have against the suspended Saints players and their involvement in the Bounty Scandal, but I have to believe they didn't pull these four names out of a hat.Over the weekend, the courts uplifted the suspensions of Anthony Hargrove, Will Smith, Scott Fujita, and Jonathon...
This, I did not see coming. Will Smith and Jonathan Vilma both have come off suspension as a three person judge panel ruled to overturn their sanctions. That means Scott Fujita will play for the Browns this weekend, Vilma could play but won't because his knee his injured - so he'll be on the PUP list but present at the game, Will Smith will suit up for the Saints, and Anthony...
Yes, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter , the best defensive players on the field for the Saints will be playing Sunday against the Redskins.
Yes, the news is fairly shocking since most expected Will Smith at defensive end was suspended on top of Jon Vilma, the team’s leading tackler.
Both players are Pro Bowl caliber and it should be noted that the Brown’s Scott Fujita will...
Earlier this year four players were suspended by the NFL for their alleged roles in the New Orleans Saints bounty situation – Saints DE Will Smith (4 games), Browns linebacker Scott Fujita (3 games), free agent Anthony Hargrove (8 games) and Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma (the entire 2012 season). Per a report from Sports Illustrated, [...]

Former and current New Orleans Saints players involved in Bountygate scored a huge victory today as an appeals court overturned their suspensions meaning they will be available for week one of the NFL season. Jonathan Vima (entire season), Will Smith (4 games), Scott Fujita (now with Cleveland, 3 games) and Anthony Hargrove (now of the Packers 8 games) were each handed down suspensions...
Roger is not going to be happy about this
In a shocking turn of events the player suspensions that resulted from the Saints’ ” Bountygate” scandal were overturned on Friday afternoon by a three man arbitration panel. Because of this Saints’ defensive end Will Smith and middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma, as well as Browns’ linebacker Scott Fujita and free agent defensive...
