According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the New Orleans Saints are thinking about releasing veteran linebacker Jonathan Vilma.
Right now free agent Curtis Lofton is scheduled to visit with the Saints and if theydecide to sign either him or David Hoawthorne, who also visited New Orleans, they may dump Vilma.
Vilma will be 30 years-old next month, and is scheduled to make...
Saints' former first round pick Robert Meachem has agreed to a 4 year deal with the San Diego Chargers that will see him leave New Orleans. The Chargers lost their star receiver Vincent Jackson to the Tampa Bay Bucs earlier in the day and quickly moved to replace him. Several teams showed interest in Meachem, most notably the Buffalo Bills who made a strong play to land him early...
The Saints took their sweet time hiring a replacement for former WR coach and current head football coach of the Tulane Green Wave Curtis Johnson. That man is now known and it's Henry Ellard, former superstar receiver of the Los Angeles Rams. My memories of Ellard mostly associate themselves to playing Tecmo Super Bowl incessantly as a kid. That picture to the right is Ellard...
TAMPA BAY-As Players View forecasted, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the early and most likely the overall winners of the 2012 free agency shopping bonanza.
Their website just broke the news that they have added the 6-5 345 lb guard Carl Nicks to their ranks. Nicks could not come to terms financially with the Saints who had already spent a pretty penny on franchising QB Drew Brees...
SAN DIEGO, March 14- The Buffalo Bills were supposedly a shoe-in to land WR Robert Meachem and that did not happen as he will play with a lightning bolt shooting across his helmet for the next four years.
The Chargers website has confirmed that Meachem has a four-year deal with the Chargers. The team would not get into the financial specifics.
But here is the deal, Charger fans...

According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the New Orleans Saints have signed free agent guard Ben Grubbs to a five-year, $36 million with $16 million full guaranteed, with a $10 million signing bonus.
Grubbs will obviously replace Carl Nicks who signed this week with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints offense shouldn’t miss a beat with the addition of Grubbs.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed guard Carl Nicks to a five-year, $47.5 million deal with $31 million guaranteed. This makes Nicks the highest paid guard in NFL history.
The Saints should be mad at themselves for allowing one of their most important offensive players to leave and sign with a division rival. It could come back to haunt them.
The Philadelphia Eagles removed the franchise tag on DeSean Jackson Wednesday, signing him to a five-year, $48.5 million extension according to NFL sources. It was about $300,000 per year more than he would have earned as a franchise player, but no official statement has been made about guaranteed money.
Meanwhile, that tag remains on Drew Brees, who is obviously unhappy about its...
From Drew Brees’ soured contract negotiations to some scandal which I can only guess is linked to a brand of paper towels, we Saints fans have been raked over the coals this offseason. But have no fears, fans! Saints’ star wide receiver Marques Colston is once again coming through in the clutch. He just signed a 5 year deal with the team!
Read more about the deal and what...
Everyone knew the New Orleans would lose a key player with the franchise tagging of Drew Brees and they almost got lucky. However, Carl Nicks 6’5 ,345, a pro bowl offensive guard who helped protect Brees set the single season passing record for yards in 2011 has moved on to Tampa Bay.
As a direct result in the inability of the Saints to sign Drew Brees to a contract, the Saints...
