The Saints Nation:
There's been lots of random stuff the last few days in Saints land so I figured today I would link you on good material today while sparing you my usual commentary. Don't get used to it, though.
Here are some worthwhile things to check out:
Mike Freeman of CBS blasting the Saints, and Canal Street Chronicles blasting him in return
.Mickey Loomis says all the right things
in the media in response to Brees' public frustration.
The Saints have re-structured their front office
at the top, which means new responsibilities for Rita Benson and Dennis Lauscha (pictured next to Tom Benson).Vilma's case against Goodell is going to be extremely difficult
and he's unlikely to win.
Mickey Loomis will be involved with the Hornets
, and that will be his focus during his suspension.

New Orleans Saints starting quarterback Drew Brees broke the all-time NFL passing record for most yards in a single season in 2011 yet his reward during the offseason was a franchise tag rather than a long-term contract extension. The negotiation process has began to frustrate Brees, so much, that he’s beginning to speak out about
Earlier this week Drew Brees called the negotiations between him and the New Orleans Saints “extremely frustrating,” a very understandable sentiment because of how much Brees has done for the organization and the city of New Orleans. Some Saints fans are getting restless with the negotiations and feel they should just pay the man what he’s earned, rather than believing he owes...
It seems that with each week there is a new twist to Bountygate. Last week, it was Jonathon Vilma filing a defamation suit against Roger Goodell. This week’s twist comes from discussions that CBS Sports’ Mike Freeman had with a few “angry”, “tired and determined” Saints players.
In his discussions with the players, one believes that the Saints are being “railroaded”...
Based on the advice of my legal counsel, which really was a five-line Gchat with my lawyer friend, I am not attempting to assert any facts that have been neither confirmed nor denied and which may or may not be substantiated by true events, if any, about Jonathan Vilma. This is only an opinion.
A bounty has been placed on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and Vilma is just the latest...
With the Saints roster mostly set and training camp around the corner, I thought I'd identify 5 available free agents that would greatly help the team's depth at a somewhat affordable price. For what it's worth, Dallas Clark was on this list until he signed with the Buccaneers earlier this week.
1. Drew Coleman, CB - Coleman has played for the Jags and Jets, and...
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is being sued in federal court by linebacker Jonathan Vilma of the New Orleans Saints for libel and slander. The lawsuit stems over remarks that Goodell made publicly concerning Vilma and the recent Bountygate scandal in the NFL.
Goodell suspended Vilma for the entire 2012/13 season for allegedly putting up a $10,000 bounty reward to any of his Saints...
There remains no closure in sight to the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday that no timetable is set for final judgment on the appeals of four current and former Saints players to the suspensions that he levied. An arbitrator heard one appeal earlier this month; a second appeals hearing is set for May 30 in Philadelphia.
Among sports columnists, Mike Freeman of CBS Sports has been one of the Saints’ harshest critics in the wake of the bounty scandal. He even went so far as to call Jonathan Vilma’s defamation lawsuit against Roger Goodell “arrogant” in a column he wrote a few days ago.
But now, it seems Freeman is slowly changing his tune, after having listened to what a few...
The attorney for Kevin Williams during the StarCaps case is now representing Jonathan Vilma against the commissioner. It could lead to another long, drawn-out case. Plus, Matt Kalil could be in for a guaranteed contract and insider notes from around the NFL.
At Tuesday’s NFL owner’s meetings, Commissioner Roger Goodell said that they plan on releasing the evidence from the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal.
“Yes, I do,” answered Goodell when he was asked if he expects the public to be able to see the evidence.
Goodell said that the league won’t release any more information until the appeals and grievance processes...
Suing the NFL seems to be popular thing to do these days. In addition to Jonathan Vilma suing Commissioner Goodell, several former players have begun to sue the NFL for injuries sustained & claim the NFL didn’t do enough to educate players about the dangers of the sport. Eric Dickerson is among the latest to [...]
The league’s most prominent contract negotiations right now are between Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Brees saved the Saints franchise from mediocrity and a possible move from New Orleans, yet the organization is still playing hardball with the single season passing yards record holder. Yesterday, Brees spoke out and called the negotiations, as you could expect, “extremely...
