Yes, to anybody else who has that deja vu feeling, we’ve been here before — only the stakes have since raised.
On the same day Drew Brees skipped the start of mandatory minicamp, it’s being reported by ProFootballTalk.com that the Saints and their frustrated franchise player are closer in contract talks than previously thought.
Per PFT, which cites an anonymous source, the Saints are offering Brees a contract worth close to $19 million per year, with Brees believed to be seeking less than $21 million annually. Previous reports indicated the All-World quarterback’s demands were closer to $23 million, but that, apparently, is not the case.
However, this hardly guarantees an agreement is imminent. PFT suggests a game of “tug-o-war” is taking place, with both parties firmly entrenched in their positions and unwilling to budge. As with any drawn-out negotiation, neither side wants to cave, no matter the ramifications it will have on a team which has gone through hell and back this offsea...

Over the next few days, the New Orleans Saints will conduct their June mandatory minicamp and of course franchise quarterback Drew Brees won’t be in attendance as he continues to wait for the Saints to get their act together and pay him.
Until Brees gets the offer he’s looking for from the Saints, I wouldn’t even expect him to show up for training camp.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, unsigned franchise player Drew Brees is seeking 20.3 million yearly from the Saints in his new contract. This report comes one day after ProFootballTalk reported that the Saints were offering 18-19 million per year. It’s good news that the two sides are closer now than they were earlier in the offseason, but guaranteed money is still a sticking...

As the offseason and your quest to improve your roster continues, you don’t need me to tell you it’s going to be very hard to make any real improvements to your roster without a few trades. I get asked many times on Twitter if I like a certain trade. I always let folks know there are two ways to grade these trades. One, you can grade it player vs. player in a vacuum...
