New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl left tackle Jermon Bushrod said he and the Saints haven't talked at all about a contract extension as the left tackle enters the final year of his contract, Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Bushrod signed a two-year deal leading up to the 2011 season. "Some situations, guys get extended and some other ones guys don't," Bushrod said. "At the end of the day, all guys can do is go out here and get better day in and day out and continue to fight. We'll let all of the contract stuff work itself out. I'd definitely love to be here the next few years. ... I just want to win really bad, especially this year." Bushrod has said he signed a shorter term deal in the hopes of cashing in once the deal expires at the end of this season. Those feelings haven't changed after earning his first Pro Bowl bid in 2011. "You want to continue to be rewarded for the hard work you put in," Bushrod said. "But this is not an individual game. This is a team game. I just want to continue to get better. If that happens, all that stuff will work itself out."

Saints Nation: Saints Give Thomas Morstead Enormous Contract

Serious cap problems coming as soon as 2013 didn't stop Mickey Loomis from making a massive investment in the team's star punter Thomas Morstead. Morstead's contract extension is good for 6 years at $21.9 million, although only just less than $7 million is guaranteed. Saints Can Carry Over Unused Salary-Cap Space Into 2013

For those wondering what the New Orleans Saints will do with the extra salary-cap space they carved out when they signed quarterback Drew Brees to a new contract this month, the most likely answer is: Save it.
