Drew Brees believed he was making a trenchant point on Twitter when he likened the NFL's "bounty" investigation to the U.S. military's fruitless search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. If Brees was attempting to be provocative, well, mission accomplished. But after further consideration -- and a dollop of bad press -- the New Orleans Saints quarterback felt the need to clarify. Drew Brees@drewbrees "My WMD comment has nothing to do with politics or our brave military. Merely an analogy to show how media influences public perception"."Drew Brees@drewbrees "I apologize if the WMD comment offended anyone. Especially our military. There is no one I respect more than our service men and women." Brees is as media savvy as they come in the game, so his backtracking isn't a surprise. President George W. Bush's insistence that Saddam Hussein was harboring WMDs was the impetus for a war. Brees clearly didn't mean any disrespect by it, but it was a pretty heavy analogy to draw.

Jimmy Graham may not get a new contract any time soon

Getty Images With the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal currently going on, as well as a contract stand-off between the Saints and quarterback Drew Brees, it doesn’t look like tight end Jimmy Graham will get a long-term deal any time soon.   Another problem that the Saints have, is that they don’t have the cap room at the moment to lock Graham up to a long-term contract. Graham’s...

The NFL came down awfully hard on the New Orleans Saints this offseason for their alleged bounty program. Morning Huddle - Benson, Loomis can talk about the NBA

Drew Brees through a Twitter shoe at President Bush when he compared Bountygate to finding WMDs in Iraq. Saints owner Tom Benson and suspended general manager Mickey Loomis will be allowed to meet during Loomis' 8 game suspension. The reason is that Benson owns the New Orleans Hornets, and Loomis is director of basketball operations for the NBA squad. The NFL expects Loomis...

Saints Nation: Time to Move On as Fans from "Bountygate"

Something I've done in the painstakingly long "bountygate" process is accept that Roger Goodell is going to get his way, live with the fact that the Saints will be without numerous key coaches, front office members, and players, and just move on. I think it's time we all do that, honestly. Regardless of what side of the fence you sit on, at the end of the day, I...
