New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas left Saturday's playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers in the first quarter with an apparent head injury. Thomas caught a pass near the goal line when he was hit by 49ers safety Donte Whitner. Thomas fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Patrick Willis of the 49ers. Thomas was evaluated by the Saints medical staff on the sidelines. His status was not immediately available. Thomas ran for 562 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season. The 49ers held a 14-0 lead following the first quarter.
