A week before Mardi Gras begins (Fat Tuesday is a week from today), a parade of a different kind took place—one the good people of New Orleans affectionately called “Lombardi Gras”. Nice. Carnival floats carrying the Super Bowl XLIV champion Saints moved through the streets of downtown New Orleans late this afternoon and tonight as roughly 800,000 fans cheered.
Saints head coach Sean Payton called it “the best Mardi Gras week in the history of this city.” I’m buying that. And SB44 MVP quarterback Drew Brees told a jubilant crowd:
