It won’t be breaking news on Sportscenter tonight, but the Saints have added a quality player to the fold in linebacker Clint Ingram, according to New Orleans Times-Picayune sports editor Doug Tatum.
Ingram was recently let go by the Jaguars, after their acquisition of former Raiders linebacker Kirk Morrison left him on the outside looking in. Ingram has battled injuries in recent years, missing multiple games in the past two seasons, but he has been productive when healthy, racking up an average of 48.5 tackles a season in his four year career thus far.
At age 27, Ingram should immediately slot in as the starter at one of the two outside linebacker spots for the Saints, and contribute on special teams. Ingram signed just a one year contract with New Orleans, and will likely find himself to be in demand next off-season, if he can stay healthy and put together a quality year.
