The New Orleans Saints have a lot of faith in their secondary for this upcoming season. A healthy Marshon Lattimore takes them to another level.

Amid plenty of trade speculation, Lattimore has remained vigilant in his attempt to return from a serious injury in 2023. He's determined to show the league that he is still elite in coverage and possesses big-time passion for the game as he approaches his late 20's.

Saints' Tyrann Mathieu gave an intriguing update on Lattimore

Mathieu delved into a plethora of interesting topics for Saints fans on Robert Griffin III's show, RG3 and The Ones. He discussed Lattimore's recent preparation for the upcoming season.

"I've talked to him a few times this offseason, and like he's itching to get back to it because people aren't talking about him. He's one of the best corners in this league. He's definitely motivated and think he'll be ready to roll this year for sure."

According to Mathieu, the trade "rumors" that have swirled this offseason have not affected Lattimore. The Pro Bowl cornerback has been more determined than ever to play at a high level and stay healthy.

Lattimore missed 16 games over the past two years in New Orleans. If he can stay available in 2024, they have one of the best cornerback rooms in all of football.

The Saints already had Lattimore and Paulson Adebo outside, who impressed as the top CB on the depth chart in 2023. Then, they drafted Kool-Aid McKinstry in round two of this year's draft. He's expected to make an immediate impact. Then, there's Alontae Taylor, a young defender who has shown inconsistencies but also flashes of major upside.

All in all, Mathieu's update is an important one for New Orleans. Lattimore clearly isn't listening to all of the perceived tension around him and the Saints. It may not exist, albeit what some folks on Twitter/X may tell you.

Instead, it seems like Lattimore is truly committed to helping the team's defense this season and proving he remains a top CB in the league.
