Samson Ebukam agrees to huge deal with Colts after career season

Samson Ebukam is soon to be a former member of the San Francisco 49ers.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the former fourth-round pick is set to sign a massive new contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

That's a huge deal for Ebukam, and he without a doubt earned it. He's coming off the best season of his career after finishing with five sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 36 total tackles on an excellent San Francisco defense.

It will be interesting to see if Ebukam can perform at the same level without the likes of Arik Armstead, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner around him, but the Colts certainly feel the juice will be worth the squeeze with the 6-foot-3, 245-pound defensive end.

Ebukam was drafted by the Rams with the 125th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he put up 14.5 sacks in four seasons, including 4.5 sacks in 2019 and 2020, respectively. He signed a two years, $12 million contract in 2021 with the 49ers and put up 4.5 sacks in 2021 followed by the five last season.

At this point, Ebukam is seemingly guaranteed five sacks a season, but the Colts will undoubtedly be hoping he can provide a lot more as a centerpiece of their new defense.
