Can Phillip Rivers lead the Chargers back to the Playoffs in 2012? The 2011 season was not kind to the San Diego Chargers as the team fell flat on their faces after a tremendous 4-1 start to the season, losing at one point six straight games on their way to an 8-8 season, causing them to miss the postseason for the second consecutive year. However, with Phillip Rivers at quarterback, the Chargers will always have a chance and despite some key losses like Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson heading to Tampa Bay and running back Mike Tolbert going to Carolina, not to mention the retirement of long-time center Nick Hardwick; the Chargers have the talent to make noise in the AFC West in 2012. Now that the Chargers have made what is likely their last player acquisition before the start of training camp, here is how I see the position battles ending up. I will include the 45 man active gameday roster, the 53 man team roster, and the 8 practice squad members. Also included is...

Predicting the San Diego Chargers Roster

Now that the Chargers have made what is likely their last player acquisition before the start of training camp,  here is how I see the position battles ending up.  I will include the 45 man active gameday roster, the 53 man team roster, and the 8 practice squad members.  Also included is the first member of the usually crowded Chargers IR roster, 5th round draft pick OG Jonnie...

San Diego Chargers Rookie Brandon Taylor Should Make Impact

Ex-LSU safety Brandon Taylor should make an immediate impact on the San Diego Chargers secondary. Last year, San Diego’s defense was lead with 7 interceptions by pro bowler Eric Weddle. But it became clear to GM A.J Smith that there needed to be an addition to talent. What will aid Taylor in his hopeful success in San Diego, will be his experience. He was a three-year starter...

San Diego Chargers: Most Overrated and Underrated Players

The San Diego Chargers seem to enter each season as Super Bowl contenders, only to prove predictions false by October despite their talent. The San Diego Chargers are counted out nearly every winter, only to pleasantly shock the league with late December runs in the lowly AFC West. If there is any franchise in the NFL that epitomizes a yin-and-yang quality of "overrated versus...

Is RB Ryan Mathews capable of becoming an everydown back for the San Diego Chargers, mentally?

Third-year San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews has had huge expectations heaped on him before. As a rookie, head coach Norv Turner suggested the Chargers would try to get the ball in his hands 300-320 times in his first year. Injuries took their toll, and Mathews failed to live up to expectations. Heading into 2012, Mathews now is coming with high expectations once again. Given head...

Ronnie Brown: Fantasy Football Profile

A swimming pool with an electrical current nearby isn't the most suitable environment for a fish, but that's the situation Ronnie Brown finds himself in after signing a one-year contract with the San Diego Chargers on June 8th. Part of Philip Rivers and the Chargers' struggles in 2011, in spite of the league's No. 6 passing attack, can be explained by their discrepant...

NFL Mt. Rushmore-San Diego Chargers

Every NFL Franchise has it’s own pantheon of football gods. That group of players who are not only historic in terms of talent, but even more than that, these are the players who you have to talk about when you tell the story of your team. This is part of a 32 article series where I tell you who I would put among that elite group. For this, it’s Mt. Rushmore. 4 players only....
