The top two seeds in the NFC meet up in this year’s championship game. The 49ers find themselves in the NFC Championship game for the second year in a row, this time with Colin Kaepernick as their quarterback. They will take on the top-seeded Atlanta Falcons who barely made it to this game. The Falcons are still alive thanks to a clutch final-minute drive led by Matt Ryan that was completed by a game-winning 49-yard field goal by Matt Bryant. San Francisco 49ers In the Divisional Round, the 49ers faced the Packers in a rematch of their season opener. They won in the first matchup and followed it up with a win last week. This time it was with Colin Kaepernick as quarterback. Kaepernick’s playoff debut had a rough start as he threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown on the first drive of the game. He quickly turned things around and had a game that is one to remember. He threw for 263 yards on 17 completions, which is six more yards than Aaron Rodgers had but on nine fewer completions. He also threw for two touchdowns. But the highlights of the day came in the running game. Kaepernick ran the ball 16 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns, which was more yards and touchdowns than Frank Gore had on seven more carries. The 45 points put up by the offense of San Francisco should be a concern for the Falcons. With Kaepernick at quarterback there is always a possibility for a high scoring 49ers output, and his running game adds a whole new threat to the offense. Atlanta Falcons The Falcons went into halftime last week with a 20-0 lead over the Seahawks. They also had a 27-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Their sure win went away when the Seahawks scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The last of those touchdowns came with 31 seconds left and gave Seattle a 28-27 lead. The fans and players in Atlanta were stunned, but there was still enough time to make a comeback. Matty Ice was able to lead the offense down the field quickly to set up the game-winning field goal. Matt Ryan saved his reputation with the comeback, as he would have dropped to 0-4 in the playoffs otherwise. Questions would have been  asked about why the team could not win in the postseason after having such a great regular season record. Those questions can now be held off until at least after this upcoming game. 49ers-Falcons Prediction The Falcons barely made it to play this week, while the 49ers had an easy victory over the Packers. The 49ers will win this game and head to the Super Bowl, one year after coming so close and falling short. 49ers 34 – Falcons 24 ***** 49ers-Falcons Game Info 49ers-Falcons Time: 3:00 ET 49ers-Falcons TV: FOX 49ers-Falcons Announcers: Joe Buck and Troy Aikman 49ers-Falcons Point Spread: 49ers -4.5 49ers-Falcons Over-Under: 49.5 The post San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons: Preview, Prediction, Point Spread, TV Time, and Announcers appeared first on Midwest Sports Fans.
