Welcome to the...uh, the "No One Saw This Coming Bowl," aka the 4-1 Niners at the 5-0 Lions.
And no, I did not see this coming either. I'm not all that young (inother words, I'm damn old), yet the Lions going 5-0 is something which I've never seen in my lifetime...untill this season, of course. The last time the Lions were 5-0, it was 1956 and Hall of Fame QB Bobby Layne was drinking Detroit dry.
No Lion is drinking Detroit dry this time around (I hope), but it hasn't stopped the team from playing like they are one of the NFL's elite, and plan on staying there.
Lions start with the ball, and end with a 3 and out. Matthew Stafford had Nate Burleson open on 3rd and long...but that pesky strong ass arm got in ther way, overthrowing the wide open wide out.
Niners want to throw on 1st down...BALLBALLBALL! Kyle Vanden Bosch pulls off a triple play! Sack, fumble, and fumble recovery! It was ...

It is often said that the quarterback receives too much credit when things are going well and too much blame when times are tough. That saying fits perfectly with the reaction to Matthew Stafford and the Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers.Yesterday, I posted a poll asking readers to assign blame for last Sunday’s loss. I specifically named Matthew Stafford as an option because...

Fox commentator Daryl Johnston watched the Lions Friday practice and said there were lots of plays called for him rookie Titus Young.
Here’s what we all knew prior to Sunday’s game against San Francisco:-The Lions have not really been tested at home this year.-Matthew Stafford and the offense pick their games up in the second half, and have learned to win late on the fly.-Detroit players know how to rally around their leaders, role players and fans to make things happen.-There would be an element of unfamiliarity...

The Lions have scored their first touchdown on a 16-yard pass from Matthew Stafford to Brandon Pettigrew.
Pettigrew went up and made a great catch in traffic. Once he hit the ground, a 49ers defender stripped the ball away. The officials originally called the play incomplete but after a little
In the fourth quarter of the Lions' 34-30 win at Dallas on Oct. 2, Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford saw wide receiver Calvin Johnson flanked by cornerback Mike Jenkins, safety Barry Church and linebacker Sean Lee in the end zone, threw it anyway and watched as Johnson outjumped the trio for a...
The 49ers just sacked Lions QB Matthew Stafford in the end zone for a safety.
49ers rookie Aldon Smith beat Lions left tackle Aldon Smith. Right guard Stephen Peterman was blown over by DT Ray McDonald, too.
The Lions lead 10-9 with 7:36 left in the first half
I knew this day would come, I just didn’t know when. I was fully aware that the Lions would not win all 16 contests this year, but as a fan there is hope for every game. The Lions’ streak has come to an end, and now I have to write about a Lions loss for the first time.
Honestly, I thought it would happen sooner. Down 20-0 in the Metrodome I all but wrote the Lions off...
In every cup of coffee, there is bitterness. Some bitterness comes from the flavor of the bean, and some bitterness comes from how darkly it was roasted. Ever wonder how Starbucks turns out drinks that taste exactly the same in massive volumes all over the world? They roast all their beans so dark it doesn’t matter what they used to taste like. That’s why a downing a straight...
