After spending yesterday passive aggressively complaining on Twitter about being snubbed from the Pro Bowl, Richard Sherman finally has something to hang his hat on. He has officially won his appeal against the NFL’s claim of his use of performance enhancing drugs. Does anyone else think it’s strange he refers to Roger Goodell as “lord”? Not to be pessimists, but we were kind of hoping he didn’t win the appeal. If the suspension was upheld Sherman was threatening to sue the league and things were guaranteed to get messy. Now all we get is a few lousy tweets and a bound-to-be corny Pete Carroll interview this weekend. [@RSherman_25] Filed under: Football, NFL

Roger Goodell has lost his fastball

Just last summer, everyone in the NFL world was marveling at the sweeping power being shown by Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL offices, when they effectively castrated the 2012 New Orleans Saints over the so-called Bountygate scandal. Before that, it was the fines and loss of draft picks stripped from the New England Patriots [...]

Pete Carroll: No Seattle players involved in Monday night club shooting

An unidentified man in Seattle was killed during a shooting at a crowded club on Monday morning where several Seattle Seahawks were attending, according to police, via Greg Rosenthal of NFL.com. Carroll said players were in the club after the team's win Sunday night over, the San Francisco 49ers. "From what we know our guys were in a separate area and nobody was involved...

Seattle tries to keep playoff momentum vs. Rams

No matter how unlikely, Pete Carroll is grasping at the slim chance his Seattle Seahawks still have of winning the NFC West. Sure the Seahawks would need a win over St. Louis on Sunday and help from Arizona to make playing at home early in the postseason a reality. But as long as there remains the chance of Seattle getting a home playoff game, and with it a division title, Carroll...

Column: Set your DVR for Pro Bowl. Now. Seriously

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JIM LITKE AP Sports Columnist NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell warned players a while back that he was prepared to drop the Pro Bowl if they didn't pick up the level of play. Next thing you know, he'll be threatening to hold his breath. Instead of calling his bluff, which is what anyone who doesn't get the consolation prize of a week's vacation...

NFL Coroner's Report: New Orleans Saints Autopsy

It's appropriate here to pay tribute to TV's most famous coroner, Mr. Jack Klugman, who passed away Christmas Eve at age 90. Take care, sir, and remember: on those notes that Tony Randall left you in the beyond, "F.U." is nothing vulgar. In case you forget. This week's stuffing of the stiffs provides a challenge for the Football Nation ME's office, as a quartet...

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings: Three Bold Predictions

Of the many changes and upgrades that the NFL has made to enhance its appeal in catering to the needs of its fans, the move to having all divisional matchups in Week 17 is among the shrewdest. The league, specifically commissioner Roger Goodell, have done just about everything right as it relates to the structure of the schedule, the matchups, and providing the most enticing and...

League floats idea of replacing Pro Bowl with Senior Bowl

Could the NFL decide to scrap the Pro Bowl for the Senior Bowl? (Credit: AP Photo) Last year’s Pro Bowl was nothing but an embarrassment for the NFL. Players looked disinterested and showed an extreme lack of effort on the field. Obviously the players do not want to risk injuring themselves in a meaningless game. The Pro Bowl became such a joke that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell...

How Do I Quit You, Thursday Night Football?

The first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem, right? When I perused the week 16 schedule—grumbling about my top fantasy team’s semifinal collapse—I was confronted with a complex array of emotions when I noticed there wouldn’t be another Thursday night game this season.Anger: How can NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expect us to believe he’s serious about player...

No Seattle Seahawks players involved in bar shooting

Fox News is reporting that several members of the Seattle Seahawks were at a suburban Seattle bar on Christmas Eve where a shooting took place. One person is dead and another man was wounded in the incident. The shooting took place at a popular location known as Munchbar at approximately 1a.m. Monday morning. Accounts suggest that approximately 600 patrons were celebrating the Seahawks...

Who is Snubbed From the Pro Bowl Roster? Really?

Last night, the NFL and the NFL Network revealed the players that will be on this year’s 2012 NFL Pro Bowl roster. I think if the league office takes a look at the numbers, I’d venture a guess to say that more people were watching the Little Caesars Bowl game between Central Michigan and Western Kentucky. I know I was. In usual, predictable, mainstream media fashion, copious...
