The success the Seattle Seahawks had in 2012 came from solid drafting, and non-judgment. In a league where a bad 40 time drops you fast, an off the field history could keep a player off a draft board all together. However, GM John Schneider doesn’t feel that because a player has some ‘issues’ that they are deemed unworthy. The case of Bruce Irvin is a prime example, where most teams wouldn’t have touched the prospect due to his past, the Seahawks embraced him ad he responded by playing some good football for them. The general manager believes a team has to go mat, and only then you’ll find out if a player was worth taking. "At a certain level, you have to be willing to accept those risks," Schneider said, via Jayson Jenks of the Seattle Times. "We don't graft guys unless we feel like we've laid it on the line with them."
