Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman James Carpenter is out to show and prove that drafting him was no blunder, and he's now fully healthy and ready to convince the naysayers. Carpenter was drafted in 2011 out of Alabama, yet has had his share of setbacks since entering the league. But that looks to be all behind him as he's on the field at training camp lined up at left guard with the second-unit offense, making it through Seattle’s 21/2 hour practice without a setback, reports Eric D. Williams of the News Tribune. While confirming he's in tip-top shape, Carpenter reflected on what he's been through. "It’s been tough,” he said. “Injuries are part of the game. But my teammates and coaches have been helping me with it, and I feel pretty good about it right now." "Last training camp I wasn’t able to run very much,” he added. “And this one I can block a 300-pound lineman. So it’s a lot better this time.” Offensive line coach Tom Cable notices a big difference in how Carpenter is approaching camp this year as opposed to 2012. “It’s night and day,” Cable said. “Remember, we were just clearing him, and then boom, we’re playing him (last year). He was really, I would say, as close as ready to go five or six weeks ago, so he has had this whole period to condition. And he’s in much better shape. Now, that’s just to come to camp. You’ve got to get into football shape, and he’s no different than anybody else now. It was pretty good the first day.”
