The Seattle Seahawks placed linebacker Matt McCoy on injured reserve on Tuesday, signing linebacker David Vobora to take his place on the 53-man roster.
In addition, the Seahawks released fullback Eddie Williams and signed defensive end Jameson Konz off the practice squad.
McCoy suffered a significant knee sprain in Sunday’s game, though coach Pete Carroll said Monday that he didn’t think the injury would be season-ending. McCoy’s placement on IR obviously means his year is over.
Vobora was with the team during training camp and can play all three linebacker positions as well as special teams, an area that McCoy thrived in. Williams was signed when fullback Michael Robinson sprained his ankle in the season opener against San Francisco.
Konz was a seventh-round draft pick last season who was converted to defensive end from tight end during training camp.
