Seahawks Must Stop 'Terrific' Terry McLaurin to Beat Commanders

The Seattle Seahawks secondary will have their hands full on Sunday when they face off against the Washington Commanders.

Washington has been one of the better passing offenses in the league this season, averaging 242 passing yards per game. That's good enough to be ninth-best in the NFL in 2023.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is aware of the challenge the Commanders skill players can bring.

"Terry McLaurin is terrific," Carroll said. "Logan [Thomas] is a premier-looking tight end. He’s gone to those guys, and they have a lot of speed with the other guys that they go to. Both running backs that they feature, [Brian] Robinson [Jr.] and [Antonio] Gibson, are both really well equipped. They run hard, they run thick, so they’ve got a good complement to what they’re doing there.

"They are really going for it in the throwing game. They’ve thrown the ball a hundred times more than we have already. They’re really trying.”

The Commanders may also see the return of receiver Curtis Samuel, who missed the team's Week 9 contest against the New England Patriots with a toe injury. Samuel has 35 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns so far this year.

If rookie Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen can find ways to limit the likes of McLaurin, second-year pro Jahan Dotson and Samuel, they could stand a far better chance of winning.

The Commanders and Seahawks are set to kickoff at 1:25 p.m. PT at Lumen Field. The game can be watched on FOX.
