TEAMS: Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Boise State Broncos
The Seattle Seahawks made it 2-0 this preseason, with a decisive 30-10 win, but the victory didn’t come without some bumps. The defense kept the team in it until the offense got on track.
Offensive Game BallWithout further ado, your week two game balls!
Russell Wilson did a mighty fine job in the second half, and was the runner up for this week’s game ball. He looks like a 10 year veteran on the field, and his vision downfield is excellent.
He had an excellent encore to a solid debut last week, and went 10-17 for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and another 33 yards on the ground.
Kudos to Terrell Sutton as well. Always fun to play against the coaching staff that cut you the year before. This game ball goes to another rookie from the Seahawks 2012 draft class though.
When Marshawn Lynch got arrested under suspicion of DUI this summer, Seahawk fans everywhere prayed rookie Robert Turbin could handle the load if Lynch got suspended.
Well 12th Man, exhale, because Turbin is the real deal.
Although his numbers don’t jump out at you (10 carries, 34 yards and two catches for 10 yards), he looked more than capable. The concern that he can’t run in a zone blocking scheme should be forgotten, as he had one or two runs where he did exactly what a zone blocking running back is expected to do.
Congrats, Incredible Hulk, and keep it up!
Russell Wilson – 10/17 155 yds 2 TD
Terrell Sutton – 3 attemps 48 yards
Robert Turbin – 10 carries 34 yards
Defensive Game BallWith a preseason that’s seen rookies Winston Guy and Jeremy Lane not step up and jump out at you, it’s good to see a sophomore who’s also fighting for a roster spot do it.
Picking up an interception off of Peyton freakin’ Manning and a forced fumble, this game ball goes to safety Jeron Johnson.
The second year player from Boise State also picked up four tackles and a swat down for good measure. His interception came off a deep pass during a drive that was beginning to look like it had momentum.
The search for a safety to step in for Earl Thomas when he plays more of a centerfield role continues, and Johnson makes a case for his name to be there.
Great game, Jeron!

Flynn & TO Bonding at practice, not yet on gameday.
Jeron Johnson - 4 tackles 1 INT 1 FF
Special Teams Game BallOn a night where a kick returner bobbles a return (Phillip Adams) and a punt is blocked twice, it makes my job of picking the best special teamer easier.
Especially when kicker Steven Hauschka goes 3-3 on field goals and 3-3 in PAT’s. After kicker Carson Wiggs got released earlier this week, it’s all Hauschka’s gig again this season, and he’s done nothing to make ‘Hawk fans think otherwise.
Keep it up and hopefully next week the rest of the special teams unit will make this a tougher decision!
