The post bounty gate New Orleans Saints have all their parts back, and are looking to move on from the longest year in franchise history.
Payton was a guest on Pro Football Talk, and said that the Saints aren’t motivated by the bounty case, and the casualties that came along with it.
We’re driven and motivated to win but it can’t come out of spite or anger towards the league office or the Commissioner,” Payton said. “I think it’s something that has to be in the rear view mirror. And our focus has to be on the things we have to do to improve. There’s a lot of areas from a year ago that we have to be better at if we’re going to aspire to do that.”
Sean Payton has a ring. I believe the Saints are motivated by the task of proving to the NFL that juggernaut is still alive and well.

Saints defensive coordinator paid the ultimate compliment to head coach Sean Payton by comparing him to one of the all-time great NFL coaches.
Friday night versus the Raiders, a proven veteran weapon returns to the Saints offense. Versatile running back Pierre Thomas says he's anxious to get back to work after resting an undisclosed leg injury for a week.
"I am ready to play on Friday. I am ready to hit another team besides my own players," Thomas said. "I really don't like being hurt and I just...
Dennis Allen didn't get a chance to match wits against his former boss when New Orleans visited Oakland last season.
Sean Payton's season-long bounty suspension wiped that out, so Allen will have to settle for a preseason date Friday night against the coach and franchise he helped to win the Super Bowl title in the 2009 season.
Allen was a defensive assistant for Payton...
Saints head coach Sean Payton joined Jim Rome on Showtime’s “Rome” Wednesday night to talk about the NFL, how it felt to be back, and everything Saints related. One of the questions Rome asked Payton was who was the better college quarterback, Payton or his fellow former Eastern Illinois quarterback and current Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo. “Payton — wasn’t close,” the...
Remember that scene in Forrest Gump when Bubba Blue describes all of the different ways one can cook shrimp? You can barbecue it, broil it, bake it, sauté it, pan-fry it, deep fry it, or stir-fry it. There is shrimp kabob, shrimp Creole, shrimp gumbo, lemon shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, and even shrimp burgers. Isn’t it amazing what you can do with one ingredient...
It’s week 2 of the preseason and in come the Oakland Raiders, the New Orleans Saints’ second straight AFC West opponent. Last season, the Saints blew out the Raiders with the defense having one of its better performances. The Raiders will present similar challenges to the Saints defense that the Kansas City Chiefs did the week prior. Here are some things to look out for.
We reported yesterday that Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma was in Philly.
According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Vilma is scheduled to undergo a knee scope in Philadelphia. The hope is he’ll be ready for week one.
Vilma getting a scope on the knee today. Those are usually anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Told optimism he'll be back for Wk 1. Guess we'll see.

Kawika Mitchell is a proud representative of the South Florida football program. After starring for the Bulls in the early 2000s, Kawika enjoyed a very successful NFL career in which he won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants.
Today, Mitchell returned to South Florida to speak to the 2013 Bulls team, and he had three important messages to give:
I find it pretty funny that Mitchell...
The New Orleans Saints host the Oakland Raiders in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday Night. I understand it is only preseason. However, there are always things to watch for, even in an exhibition game. Here are 5 key elements we should look at and focus on when the Black and Gold and Black and Silver clash heads Friday evening. 5. Saints Offensive Play Calling and Receiving...
A weird ebb and flow to this one saw the Saints go up 23-0, then give up 20 straight, before rattling off the last 5 points of the game to seal it. Overall the improvements were significant, but there were still a lot of problem areas with penalties and turnovers. It must be said the competition was quite poor and I felt the Raiders as a team look in really rough shape at the moment...
Is anyone really surprised that Drew Brees completed 14 of 18 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders Friday night? Absolutely not. We already know that Brees is that good and the Raiders--well, they have some work to do.
What we may not do is give the offensive line that Drew has the credit that it deserves. The men in the trenches are often the first...
Vilma hasn’t been the same player since the Bounty.
Saints LB Jonathan Vilma undergoing knee surgery today in Philadelphia; out for preseason, should be back for opener.

Preseason, game 2, happening tonight in the Superdome as the Saints host the Raiders. This will should be interesting as former LSU star Matt Flynn will lead what appears to be another sub standard Raiders team. The Saints are incredibly banged up at the moment so lots of backups will get significant reps and opportunity to showcase what they can do. For those healthy this is a great...
The New Orleans Saints didn't take long to get over their first-game jitters. On either side of the ball.
The Saints' first team torched the Oakland Raiders on Friday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. And despite a few hiccups by the second and third teams New Orleans held on for a 28-20 win.
Quarterback Drew Brees went 14-of-18 for 202 yards hitting Nick Toon for a...
