Pro Football Zone:
Will Curtis Brown come along?
Curtis Brown missed the Steelers’ opening installment of the preseason. Now, Brown gets his chance to show that he isn’t a push-over. Brown has not performed well in camp. Honestly, we’re likely going to see why it’s very important for the Steelers to have Cortez Allen ready for the regular season.
The Running Backs
Ah yes, this one is pretty obvious. Isaac Redman and Le’Veon Bell have been banged up in practice quite a bit over the last week, so don’t be surprised if neither one of them takes the field on Monday night. So, all eyes will be on Jonathan Dwyer, LaRod Stephens-Howling, and Baron Batch. The Steelers very well may cut Batch or Dwyer before the 53 man roster is set in stone. Dwyer wasn’t very impressive against the Giants; this game could be vital for him.
Punting Battle Part II
Brian Moorman and Drew Butler are neck and neck. Butler is a second year man out of Georgia, while Moorman is 37 years of age, and has a Pro Bowl appearance under h...

Not that it matters much, but the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be gaining the confidence of the major media as it relates to how they will do in 2013. Over the course of most of the offseason, the Steelers have been picked by many of the talking heads to finish third in the AFC North […]
Are The Steelers Slowly Becoming The Sexy Pick To Win The AFC North? is a post from: Steelers...
The Pittsburgh Steelers look bad this preseason. They have lost their second game of the season and they don’t look like they are playing very good football. The second problem is they don’t have a guy to back up Ben Roethlisberger. If Big Ben goes down with an injury, the team is going to be in trouble. Both back ups looked terrible in the team’s second preseason game. Landry...
Yesterday Alan Robinson, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, wrote that Heath Miller won’t be back for “at least the first month of the season.” That may not be the worst thing for the Steelers, though. Miller is very important to the Steelers passing and running game. He was the team’s MVP in 2012 and his presence in the running game will surely be missed, but having him later...
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Vince Williams had a good showing last week in the preseason opener against the New York Giants as he recorded three total tackles, one sack and one quarterback hurry during the 28 plays that he played. Veteran inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who like Williams went to college at FSU, was asked […]

Slowly but surely, the Pittsburgh Steelers cornerbacks are returning to the field one by one. Monday night against the Washington Redskins, third-year cornerback Curtis Brown figures to make his preseason debut, but it’s looking like rookie Terry Hawthorne might come down to a game-time decision. Hawthorne, the Steelers fifth-round draft pick back in April, was […]
You may be the type that hates preseason football and if that’s the case you can stop reading…
The Pittsburgh Steelers finally return to the field Monday night after not playing for the last eight days. The opponent may be the Washington Redskins but the real battles will be fought by guys in the black and gold who have yet to secure a roster spot.

By Matthew Marczi Last Saturday in the preseason opener, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not see a lot of playing time, as is par for the course for most starters during the early stages of the preseason. Still, there was plenty for people to complain about, including basing the entire offensive outlook for the […]
Steelers Offense Could Aim For Deeper Passes...
Three weeks from today the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Tennessee Titans at Heinz Field in the season opener and come that time the team will no longer talk contracts until the season is over. As it stands right now, the team only has three of their six defensive lineman who figure to make the […]

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin really doesn’t know just how good or bad his kickoff coverage unit is thus far being as his kickers booted all four of their kickoffs last week against the New York Giants into the end zone for touchbacks. Because of that, Tomlin figures to have kicker Shaun Suisham ease […]
Look For Shorter Kickoffs From Shaun Suisham Against The Redskins...
By Matthew Marczi The Pittsburgh Steelers opened the second half on defense, with Baron Batch making a special teams tackle. Josh Victorian was beaten for a first down on the second play, but he came up to make the tackle after a short gain on the next play. Al Woods was in at nose tackle […]

Emmanuel Sanders is poised for a spectacular 2013 season. Although he is not one of the premier names in the NFL, Sanders is now Pittsburgh's No. 1 receiver and Ben Roethlisberger's No. 1 target.Sanders caught 44 passes for 626 yards in 2012.Pittsburgh insists that in 2013, Sanders will break the 1,000-yard mark and I would have to agree with them.Emmanuel Sanders is definitely...
The Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be the only team watching the wavier wire closely for an experienced tight end over the course of the next few weeks as the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens are just two teams that will be on a the lookout for some help at the position. Both teams made their fair share of mistakes in this game, but the Redskins capitalized on the Steelers’ mistakes, while the Steelers did not make the most of their opportunities.
The Redskins got on the board first thanks to their defense. Redskins OLB Ryan Kerrigan picked off a pass from Ben Roethlisberger and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown. Maurkice Pouncey on the play...
Mike Prisuta heard Ben Roethlisberger's chatter everywhere, even before hearing the coaches rave about Ben's emergence as the Steelers' true leader.
